Hi.

Ive always bought Seagates and notice now that they have two 300gb models.

Id like to get one of these two but I dont know the differences...

Seagate Barracuda 300GB 7200.9 16MB 11MS SATA2 NCQ RoHS Hard Drive
7200.9 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=17478&vpn=ST3300622AS&manufacture=Seagate&promoid=1043)

Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 300GB SATA W/ NCQ 7200RPM 8MB 8MS Hard Drive 5 Year MFR Warranty
7200.8 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=13632&vpn=ST3300831AS&manufacture=Seagate&promoid=1043)

Any clear advantages ??? Price is only about $5 difference so what am I missing ? Is one going be discontinued, or are the drives targeted to different end users?

Does seek time really matter (11ms vs 8ms.)

So any advice on which model above to get I would really appreciate. Thanks.

for $5.... might as well get the newer one... there's no way it can be slower

Does the motherboard have to support SATA2 to be able to use one of these 16MB harddrive or is it backward compatible?
