Hi, can any of you post your experience with the dress shoes you owned in the past? Thanks.
Also, is Kenneth Cole much better than Aldo?

just my personal thing, but I find Aldo kinda junky.
Seems more worthwhile to spend a bit more, go up to the ~150 range, but get some shoes on sale from Browns/Holt Renfrew.

aldo has great dress shoes if you only want to wear them for 3 months before you dispose of them. if you want good shoes that last i would look elsewhere, pegabo is slightly above aldo. if you want to pony up the money go to browns or calderone.

I'm a Rockport supporter...
great looking shoes and they are designed to feel light.

I go for comfy shoe, but so far I really like Hush Puppy and Clark.

The ones I find to be the best are Allen Edmunds and Johnston & Murphy...for business that is....oxfords, cap toes, wing tips etc.
Bit more money, but worth it :)

I wear Kenneth Cole shoes with the silver technology.. it's basically a gel heel pad.. these are the best shoes i've ever worn in terms of dress shoes..
spend the money and buy more than two pairs and rotate them, they will last you a few years.

Doc Marten with the non-slip soles. Gotta have it when you work in a kitchen.

Where are some good stores in TO that are not over priced for decent shoes?
Eatons center is not all that great I dont think,
'Walking on a cloud' has good shoes from the website but the downtown location closed? I cant find it. But their expensive anyway.
Whats the best place to buy in the 150 range for black casual shoes.
Clarks and hush puppies are...ok.. but the "shoe store" (blue sign) on yonge carries older stock. Had to find the size needed.
Rockport stays on the edge of the newest style, but they fall out of style too quickly I think.

Don't forget Geox. They make some pretty nice shoes...I have 2 pairs and my gf has a pair of their winter boots.

I concur! GEOX makes the best shoes!! I was skeptical at first about their patented design but they proved me wrong! My feet can finally breath, especially in the summer time! I haven't worn any other brand since I found out about the store at Yorkdale!
Definitely worth the $$$. :)

I  Hush Puppies. Last two pair were HPs :D I used to wear Aldo, but they were very uncomfortable and felt real cheap. You get what you pay for I guess.. (my Aldo shoes were only $40 after clearance... I picked up my HP for only ~$120!! They were originally ~$200)

I personally like Timberland oxfords...you can wear them with a suit or wear them with khakis..not the most comfortable shoes but they are very versatile..

I'm in the market for some business casual/black shoes. Where does one purchase hush puppies?
I used to buy Aldo/Bata shoes all the time but they really take a toll on my feet. I figure its worth it to spend more on something I will use so much.

another vote for Hush Puppies
great style, and awesome fit.. Once I bought my first pair of Hush Puppies I never went back as well.. The leather they use has the best feel compared to any decently priced dress shoe I've bought
I think I got my last pair at Sears.. (or eatons?)

Are you joking or serious??
Doc Martens are definitely casual shoes, not dress shoes.

Really? I don't notice that much of a difference. Plus I've found then difficult to break in. Maybe it's the shape of the pair that I bought .. it's a funky looking design. I also found that the heel is wearing down quite rapidly.
The best shoes that I've purchased and continue to purchase are Ecco. I bought two pairs from Rosen for $225 + tax but found them on eBay for a LOT cheaper so I've bought five more pairs. I've also found Hugo Boss shoes to be surprisingly comfortable but these are a lot more expensive than Ecco. If you can get the invite to their private sale, you can get shoes for $120 each. Otherwise, eBay is again the way to go.

I read that Pegabo, Browns and Calderone and aldo are all owned by Aldo, it's just that each store carries a different line. Does pegabo still exist, the last I heard is that they were closing them all down and converting them to Aldos.
