View Full Version : How to fix car alarm (Alpine)?

My car alarm stopped working after I had my battery and alternator replaced. It's an Alpine 8426A.

The LED in the dash lights up when I flip the valet switch, so there is power going to the unit.

The battery on the remote seems to be OK since the LED on the remote lights up when I press the buttons.

I've had my battery/alternator replaced in the past and the alarm has always worked after I toggle the valet switch. I don't know why it's not working this time.

Do I need ot re-program the remote? Can I do this myself or do I need to go to a dealer to get this fixed?

Most Alpine alarms are preprogrammed from the factory, either through dipswitches or a chip(codeROM), and changing the batter shouldn't cause the alarm to stop functioning.

Most likely it's just in valet mode.

When you open the door, does the alarm led light up continuously, if so it's in valet mode?

I'm not sure of the specs of your model falls in(codeROM?) but do a search and you should be able to find out.

It is something you can do yourself with the proper instructions.

Hope that helps.
