Grouse Mountain is having their traditional Y2Play season's pass sale on right now. If you live in Vancouver check it out here. (http://www.grousemountain.com/y2play_details.cfm)
We've done this for the last few years and have been very happy with it. The price is very reasonable for family skiing.
Great black runs, good green runs with great view, nice restaurant. Also, this mountain is safer for your teenagers to go skiing with friends on their own because you need to take a tram to get to the slopes so there are no parking lot wierdos to worry about. (Dads with teenage daughters have special worries!)

Grouse is a very good mountain indeed. Cypress is the best of the North Shore mountains but their passes are not affordable from my perspective. $175 for a youth pass, unrestricted and with access to their mountain intercahnge program, you can't go wrong.

This is the best time (actually two weeks ago) with the pass good for remainder of this season and all of next. Note it's not good for the summer tram rides. Also add in the parking pass for the paved lots right next to the tram.
Grouse does get very busy during weekend whenever snow condition is decent. Expect long waits.

I used to like Grouse but they took out 3 chairs just to put in one quad... it's tough to get on certain runs because of it's location and lines to get on the chair can be absolutely ridiculous... the past few years I was all over this Y2K pass but this year... I just can't justify it.

when does the season end on grouse? i've only been to cypress and liked the amount of terrain. grouse seems like a small mountain--is it as good?

The local hills seasons end at the same times, I would guess mid to late April for this year. I know that in more than one good snow years Grouse has closed early even though there was tons of snow still. It seems that people don't want to ski once the weather warms up.
With regards to terrain, Cypress is probably better, but the new chair on Grouse that goes from bottom of the old Blueberry chair to the top of the peak is the best chair they could put on that mountain. The only problem is getting back to the lodge from the peak, you either have to skate ski quite a bit or go down the cut for one run. Also, you don't need to waste gas as you do driving up to Cypress, because the tram gets up up on Grouse. I think the pass is a good deal.

In past year they allow upgrading from daily pass to season by paying for the diffference on that same day. You'll lose out though on any online bonus.
