I was going to buy a 3' firewire to 4 pin DV cable, and i noticed them going for around $20 at futureshop, factorydirect, etc....
Are there any places I could get them cheaper? is quality a factor here, (should I pay FS prices?)
Thanks,
Mike

Try TigerDirect or your local computer store.

I got this one (http://search.ncix.com/displayproductdetail.php?sku=12845&vpn=CB-1394-AB-6&manufacture=Others) for $10.98 from NCIX and it works great. Shipping kills the deal unless you have other stuff you want to order. In my case, a few other guys at work needed one too, so we ordered 3 and split the shipping cost - it worked out to around $14.00 each with tax and shipping.
I noticed that NCIX also has a firewire PCI card for $18.37 that comes with a cable. (link (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=12129&vpn=FW-PCI-323&manufacture=Bytecc%20Inc))
That's a good deal if you know anyone who needs the PCI card.

I usually by my stuff like this from Softchoice.ca or there's always Ebay. I just bought a Firewire port selling in FS for $70 retail off ebay for $5 plus $8 to ship! Brand New!
