I've got around $5000 to spend.

I know its not a lot but I have 'the itch' to get something new/different.

I currently drive a full size Tahoe/Yukon 2-door. Its a 350ci/5.7L, so gas isnt a huge issue with me (although finding something with a smaller appetite would be nice). A nice V6 around 4 Litres would suit me well I believe.

I'm a pretty big guy (6'2", ~275lbs), I drove a friend's civic to Windsor a few weeks ago and I was basically shoe-horned into the driver's seat. I need soemthing thats going to be comfortable for me, as I do spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Also prefer something whereI wont be breaking the seat and various handles/switches every time i touch them...

I'd like something relatively 'sleek', comfy, stylish, in a full-size sedan or luxo-coupe or even sport-coupe. I dont want another truck right now, I'm sick of playing chauffeur to anyone that needzs to haul something. Besides, I want to feel like i am enjoying driving, not manhandling a steering wheel to control a tank like my truck (Though I love it of course).

I know my price point is not high. But I am looking early-mid 1990s domestics, mainly. I've perused the Autotrader and found many cars in this price range that look to be decent value.

I've got a very good, very cheap mechanic that used to build stock car racers, I am not afraid of any particular cars (he doesnt much like working on imports though...and anything Lucas electric is a no-no...ahah)

So gimme some ideas here, if you would be so kind....

Look for 2 generations older (E34) BMW 5 series. 535i with 5spd to be exact.

One car that fits all your criteria (Domestic, roomy, mid 90's, under 5K) and has some appeal to it, is a Grand Prix coupe (Or GTP if you wish), Monte Carlo or a Grand Am GT. Both cars would have parts widely available.

Chrysler can offer you the Sebring/Avenger, but may be too small. I can't really think of any sort of attractive car ford offered in that time era that was a full size vehicle.

Over on the import side, I think the only one that would fit your criteria is possibly an Accord coupe, however it may be difficult to find one in your price range. Camry's had a coupe back then (Rare), but they aren't that visually appealing to me.

Ford - sure - the mid 90's Taurus should fit the bill - you can easily pick one up for under 5k.

Early 90's Maxima's are pretty nice cars, reliable, good handling, and decent power.

I don't know where you're located, and this is a little higher than 5. $5900 in fact, but it looks nice.

Or this one for $4900.
