Hey guys,

Since you RFD'er have probably done quite a few big transactions I come to you for my big one coming up.

What is the safest way of setting this transaction up. I have no clue who this guy is, i just emailed him after getting his mail off another forum, but I really want the item hes selling.

I heard there are ways to have the item mailed, and I can pay for it at the postal place and then the post office pays the seller. What is this called??

Any other methods.

Thanks

Well i am assuming local pick up isnt a option? there is 3rd party pay where you pay them and when you get the item they get paid. I forget what its called

its called COD Cash on Delivery, but that won't protect you against buying a box of stones.

COD - You pay for the item once it's delivered to you, then the seller gets his money. You still can't open the item before paying for it though, so there's no guarantees and not all sellers will use this method.

Escrow - You pay 3rd party. Seller ships item. You inspect it. Once you inspect it, 3rd party releases money to seller. Again, not all sellers will use this option. It also costs extra money.

I recommend local pickup if at all possible. If not possible, then do some research on the seller. How many posts does he have on RFD? When is his join date? Did you search through his posts, does he do a lot of buying and selling on RFD? Does he have any complaints in any of his posts? Search his username on Google and see if anything pops up that would cause you to be alarmed.
Post his profile in this thread and we might be able to help you out.

Also, what are you buying and how much are you paying?

oh its not on RFD, and no local pick up as I live in thornhill, they live somewhere in the United States lol....

How does COD work? is there a fee?

The item is about 450USD dollars. Its a steering wheel with airbag.

Most people won't do COD.

Your best bet is to do your research on the guy, and then take your chances.
