Does anyone knows if I could transfer my wife tution tax credit to me while she and I both have taxable income higher than 6K?

I have a much higher income than my wife, if I could transfer the cerdit to me, than we should be able to get more refund?

If so, do I fill out Schedule 2? or which form?

Yes you can transfer, but the person who's tuition it is must use as much of it on their own income tax first.. unused amounts can transfer. She could also just keep the unused amout for a future tax return.

Yes, I believe you have to file a Schedule 2 for transfer.

I don't think it matters how much money you made, everyone still gets the same % back for tuition/education amounts. The only reason to transfer part of the amount to you would be if she couldn't use it all herself.

Thanks!

I was trying to kill myself last night to work with the 'whatever' tax return program but I couldn't make the credit trasnfered to me without setting the field to manual..... Now I know why!

BTW, she will use up all the tax credit by herself.. So nothing for me. :(

I used Ufile this year and it works great.. it's really easy and seemed to cover everything I needed.

Ufile is great, for me it automatically transfers the tuition credits to the person who needs them the most, my wife or I, as well as donation and other credits.

i thought you cant transfer credits until you've used them, so rather then carry them forward you transfer them.
