One of my cats, who is only 5 months old has TERRIBLE breath.
I've never had this problem with my older cat so i don't know what the problem is. (Well, the other one's breath is also bad, but NOT THIS BAD!) I asked my vet about it, but being the old grumpy guy that he is, he only said "y'know, sometimes cats can have bad breath." ugh!

Can someone suggest me some products to improve my cat's breath? I don't want to put my cat through the process of dental cleaning nor do i want to pay the outrageous price for that.

does anyone have any experience with this? I"m tempted to try it, although i hardly doubt that my cat's problem is a tartar buildup since he's only 5 months old.

Any input would be really appreciated.

Before you start medicating the poor thing, try changing his food. It could be something in what you're feeding him that doesn't agree.

What ARE you feeding him?

I'm feeding him Nutro Natural Choice complete care indoor formula for dry food.
For wet food he gets, Actr1um, Wellness and a bit of fancy feast(b/c he loooooves it).

Check his gums for redness. He could be having some tooth decay. You really don't want to have to foot the bill for a kitty tooth extraction... almost as much as a human root canal.....

Next time, give it a breath mint before you kiss it.

My cat's breath smells like cat food.

you're breath would also be bad if you were able to lick yourself.

If I were the OP, I would pay attention to this post - a person named "fishlips" probably knows a thing or two about this subject.

If you start the vet dental cleaning now, it might not be so bad as your cat gets older. If you don't, it's going to get worse.

Still, it may not just be a dental cleaning that's required, there may be other dental or physical or physiological problems that only a vet will know about. Go to a vet you've checked out and don't delay. If you wait, you could be making your cat sicker.

I've heard of something called the "Breathlyzer" (I think that's how it's spelled) some time ago, but don't see it much anymore. It's a blue liquid. You put a few drops of it into the water bowl and it's suppose to help bad breath in cats or dogs.

My cat has horrible breath when he wakes up from a nap. But like people, drinking plenty of water is the key.

Good luck.

water water! its getting warmer and everyone knows how much kittens love ice cubes!

My boys don't drink water as frequently if its in a waterbowl, so I use a wide mouthed drinking cup. They think its for me, so they drink it thinking they're so bad. Works like a charm. Between the both of them they'll drink about 350ml a day.

try brushing his teeth on an ocassional basis if he'll let you. You can get pet toothpaste at the pet store and it'l let you spend time with him! Trust me, you don't want to have to get cleaning/teeth extraction done. $1000+ later for 2 of my cats...
