Any website designers do freelance work? I'm looking for someone to make a simple, but classy website for a dental office. This opportunity would look super stellar on your portfolio! Let me know, I'll buy you lunch or something in return :cheesygri

Freelance doesn't equate to free work. Website designers ply their trade just like dentists do. This offer is comparable to me asking for a free root canal, then I'll buy you a hot dog afterwards for your troubles.

I would recommend the robust Careers forum (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58).

If only the world worked that way...too bad there are more web designers than doctors ;)

Ha! A classy website in exchange for a lunch eh. Listen to you! Now thats classy alright.

Here's a reality check for ya. A decent webpage with logo, about ten pages, search engine optimized etc etc. will cost you $200-400+. Better make it a lunch in a posh restaurant.

My rates? A lunch at harvey's gets you a single page with a text title and descriptions in bullet forms. I throw in a few animated GIFs for hahas.

BTW, anyone needing some freelance dental work done this weekend in exchange for a lunch? I'll do a root canal for ya in my garage. Got my tools right there too.

No respect for people's work I tell ya. Yeesh.

Like everything else you get what you pay for...

I don't touch anything under 2 G's...but it also does what it's intended to do. Any 12 year old can throw together a few lines of code on a stolen template edit/create images with pirated software and call it a website.

The difference is an effective website should drive sales and move the needle of interest towards your business. Will a $200 website include market research and a few days of brainstorming from various marketing people? If I'm in the market for dental veneers am I going to go to a dentist who has a half-a$$ botched website and trust him with my teeth or someone who actually put in the effort? Remember a website is a direct reflection of your business. Ask people how often they've researched a product/service and the single decision criteria when weighing 2 potential options was the quality of their website. It happens ALOT more than you think.

Will a $10 or $200 designer sit down with you and discuss what you plan to achieve? Will he send you regular updates/changes until you are 100% satisfied? Will he go through the recommended design process? Does he take the time to understand YOUR business and what it takes to be successful at what YOU do? Client expectations etc...

At the end of the day, your website should generate you more money than it costs to design and implement. However, a bad website is alot worse than no website. A website will not only give you a vehicule to gain customers, but can just as easily make you lose potential customers.

If you were to buy a 30 second TV commercial, would you hire successful professionals with experience/knowledge/equipment to create it...or a pair of 16 year old with mom's camcorder? A website is a similiar marketing tool that should be viewed in the same light.

Well I don't know about $200-400 for 10 pages, but certainly we're talking about something in the low hundreds. It also depends on any interactive elements, as well as animation.

Plus then we have the issue of hosting...

You must learn to appreciate the work and skill of other people in their workplace, just like I would respect a dentist performing a root canal. Just because there's more web guys doesn't mean we do an easier job. It is hard in its own way - that is why you ask us to make a site. And that's why I ask you for a canal. :!:

web site design gets no respect because everyone think they can fire up frontpage or dreamweaver and complete a web site.

Hehehe that is...until these people try to upload. Then they get stuck, because they don't even understand what FTP is...

If you haven't found anyone, PM me. I am currently in a co-op placement, maintaining and designing a new website for the company.

I'm willing to do a site for your dental office in exchange for 1 year of dental care for my family of 4, depending on where the office is located.

"The opportunity to take pictures of the beautiful teeth of my family would look super stellar on the dentist's portfolio!"

See? It's people like these that make those so-called 'professional web developers' out of jobs...lol.

Thanks, kid.
