I am currently looking to upgrade my notebook RAM. I looked into my system and found that it takes the DDR2 4300/400 type. I am guessing its 184 pin, I am using this same type of RAM on my desktop, but can anybody tell me if I was to buy some more RAM, if theres a difference between the two?

Notebook and desktops almost always use different memory.

What is your notebook? Brand/Model.

SODIMM i'm guessing means something about it being notebook RAM rite?

i have a toshiba m70, motherboard takes 3200/400, 64-bit DDR2 SDRAM.

would i select from that page?

if some, the memory seems to vary from 200 - 240 pin, which one do i look for, or how do i find out?

also you should use kingston's website

http://www.kingston.com/

they will have ram that is garanteed to be compatible with your laptop (laptops are MUCH more picky in the ram they choose)

Yo man don't cheap out on Sodims 'cause I did that and my Thinkpad would even boot up...Jokes I almost cried

Turns out some brands are pickyer and you have to install quality brands. Quality also means compatible and less problems. Quality usually means receipt so you can exchange it if it doesn't work.

And your question? ECS makes laptops that uses desktop ram: regular SDRAM and DDR RAM before Sodim prices colapeses. But YO tell us your model number.

You must be referring to ECS Desknote ... It actually uses desktop CPU as well.

Just find the right type and you're good to go, even cheap ones work just fine. ;)

thats what he is saying the problem is...finding teh right type, even if its cheap, how do you find out? ...trial and error?

or find out what ram initially came with the laptop and you should be good to go.

UM just to be safe, i opened up my laptop at the back and looked at the RAM, it does look like that link. The one i have only has 4 of those black squares, instead of 8, and is fatter. there are numbers on it, but i have no idea what any of them mean:
k000033660
wk551k
samsung 546
