Sounds possible - the guy has 6 posts only and no feedback.

I'd give him another week. After that, leave him a message that if no response, legal actions (ex: calling police) will be taken.

i was in process of buying the x2 4200 from him, was going to go down to his location in Oshawa, he told me he'd contact me about the place and time he'd meet up with me two sundays ago, however, I never hear back from him, thus PM him to ask what's up... still got "1 unconfirmed private message receipt" for that PM.
edit: just noticed "norm43" is from Oshawa, and said the guy is from Brampton, sorry dude, I think this guy is scammer for sure.

Agreed. For all the newbies out there, if you're dealing with payment online via EMT, paypal, etc and getting items shipped, don't send any money unless the guy has very good heatware and/or you get ALL personal contact info verified. That means a phone number you can reverse trace to an address, a name attached to a bank account, etc. If you're not sure, don't go through with the trade. Meet face to face and build up a heatware rep.

I just don't know how someone can rip someone else off like that. I mean, being discourteous is one thing, but to deliberately try to steal money from other honest people is so despicable. I hope you get this guy and he pays his penance.

dealing in person is the best way
buffet boy
Apr 12th, 2006, 12:57 AM
i almost always deal in person, unless:
1) I get money emt'd first
2) I am shipping a low-value item ($50 or less)
Plus, I don't buy anything without seeing it first. The rare exception was again small items, such as some led fans or what not.

hey guys kinda new to this online banking, paypal thing, my question is that if you pay someone through paypal for an item agreed upon through a forum for example, and they don't come through, can you get your money back? kinda in the process of buying something but the guy wants me to paypal him before we meet, communication not the greatest either. . .thanks guys/gals

You got no protection from a private transaction. I'ts not like buying something from ebay and he has the Paypal logo on his listing which means you got some sort of protection from Paypal themselves.

Ask to meet somewhere with internet computers. Then perform the trnsaction in front of each other. Remember to clear history and cache.

Sorry to hear Norm, that could have been me in your position. LOL, he told me he was from Oshawa and wanted to meet in TO. He probably got the idea from Brampton because that's where I told him I was from. Hope he gets caught soon. FYI on the bigfoot forums, in one of his old posts, someone vouched for him as a good trader, you might want to contact this person and see if you can get some more contact info.

Wouldn't be surprised if he (scammer) replies with either:
Death in the family or out of country. It's always one of these that befalls scammers...

hm... best advice... Never ever emt liek that to newbies, and think of reasons why maybe a newbie would sell expensive stuff first? This doesnt apply to all users, but for myself i always research the guy, possible feedbacks, basically anything that would come to my mind that might be a scam. Research his last posts, and local meet up with newbies. Also communicating with them through msn will also help you out if its a possible scam or not. This is because ive caught about 3scams from msn conversations,, when the guy cant reply back after hes been talking non-stop. Its one of those scamming tactics.. Anyhow, im really tired, i dont evne know if what i wrote makes sense. GL

Hi I am new here but I am a seller on a number of other forums. But I just got an Email from a guy asking me if I was trying to sell him somthing.
Apparantly there is some idiot using my Heatware and username (username on a number of other forums)
my heatware id is Bal`thzar and so is my user name on most other forums that I frequent.
IF you have been contacted by a user named Bal`thzar on this forum (he apparantly signed up today) he is a scam artist trying to bilk some people using my rep.

A person name Bal`thzar offered me two of the things I wanted in my WTB posts and it was easy to tell there was a scam from the very general reponses I got. Could only ship and couldn't provide photos. I see they are now banned.
By the way, do PM's from banned members get deleted from your inbox automatically?

Man that sucks to hear. I am in the opposite boat. I am new to this board and am still reluctant to do my first transaction. Plus being from Ottawa doesn't help when most sellers are from Toronto. :(
