Hey everybody,
For all you fellow listeners to the Dean Blundell show, what happend to Lisa Player?
I know she took over Sandra (I think that was her) for a month or so and then all of a sudden we have Re-Todd and Danger Boy doing the traffic.
What happend?
Anbody got the inside scoop?

Nope. But they definately need a woman on the show. When did htis happen, I'm assuming sometime between Sept and Apr?

A few rants:
-When Sandra was around, the traffic would always be done at the 15 and 45. Now it's always late by 5-10 min.
-Dean talks out if his ass. I remember quite a few times in the past two weeks where he's just spouting off false info (St. John's is at Leslie and Cummer everyone!)
-Half the things on the Edge Files are months old.
-Todd quite often really is retodded. Although the two days of Canadian Idol were hilarious. They made that poor kid cry.

I wouldn't be surprised if she quit after working with Dean...

I stopped listening when Humble & Fred left. Dean is an a**hole in the truest sense of the word.

I really miss Humble & Fred. I am having big problems in the morning as I can't find any radio station in the city with a morning show that I like.

The newscasts on the Edge have always treated you like a moron. I like a decent, serious newscast, and I don't understand why 'youth-oriented' stations assume that a real newscast can't fit into their format. The number of commercials around the newscasts on the Edge is also quite bad.

But the bigger problem are the hosts. Blundell is pretty bad, and a lot of the Todd stuff is unlistenable. I have to switch the station. Do they really think some of this stuff is funny? "I've got a real red wagon"??? That's humour?

Other stations have better hosts, or ones that talk less, but then they play Celine Dion. You just can't win. :(

My favourite station of all time is Triple J from Australia, which I regularly listen to over the net. And since it's government-owned, no commercials! :)

Why don't you listen to Humble and Fred on Mojo Radio (AM640)?

I tried this a couple of times, but I need music in the mornings. DJs should enhance the show, but they shouldn't BE the show.

I'm going to repopen this age old thred and agree with the absolute crap of the Dean Blundell show. I mean, sometimes the jokes about the "typical male" are funny, though when they are constant they just become stupid.

I wish there was a station with better humor. Something a more intelligent group of people could listen to as well as the idiot public. Give me some ole Family Guy type humor!

I dislike Dean + Todd so much I switched to Howard Stern. Before that I was H&F since 92.

They should get rid of Dean, Todd and Danger and give Barry Taylor the morning drive (and bring back Carlos Benevides to be his co-host). That would be a show worth listening to.

The Edge morning show blows. If I could just combine the hosts of the morning show on Mix 99.9 along with most of the music played on the Edge, things would be so much better.

At least the Edge got rid of Brother Bill. What a farking moron that guy was.

Rock 95.7 isn't bad if you can get it.

yeah, I do enjoy the music and so that's why I listen to it.. and I listen at work, and I don't really get a chance to change the stations during the talk part of the show.

Don't people catch Humble and Fred on Mix 99.9? Prefer the edge, but H&F are great too!

H&F haven't been on 640 since summer of 2003. They're now at Mix 99.9. Also 640 is no longer Mojo format talk radio for guys. 640toronto now blows especially with that douche Craig Brommel on it.

I can't stand Todd. He cried daily for the frst few years. He is annoying.
I would love to kick his ass.

Also therevare way too many commercials. It makes the edge almost unbearable to listen to.

Oh well,

Sometimes I listen to 103.3 the edge in Buffalo, now those two guys are funny.

I just cant wait till Sirius is avail for my car. ( legit )

Wow, over a 2 year gap between posts...

Broadcast radio has really died in the last couple of decades, it's just filled with absolute garbage at this point.

There was one station I really liked, around the late 80's; it had Top 40 pop hits, but also ran off a steady stream of harder rock, punk, grunge...does anyone know what I'm talking about? I think they had Tarzan Dan, and at night they ran interesting talk shows like Sex, Lies and Audiotape and Pillow Talk. What was the name of this station?

Kiss92 FM got it right when it launched in 1998/99, but turned to a pile crap real quick.

Yeah it was AM640. I recall Pillow Talk, can't remember the host. Sex, Lies and Audiotape, that was Shelly Clink right?? No wait there was Yeah Tarzan Dan was there doing the top 7 at 7 I believe. Jesse and Gene was doing the mornings.

Prior to AM640 was 680 CFTR. That was the absolute king of the airwaves in Toronto.

Kiss92 killed themselves real quick with their "Kiss 92 plays todays great hits now give me my money!"

The reason I went over to Mojo was because of John Oakley, who I used to listen to regularly on CFRB. On Mojo he had free reign but he seems confined to serious radio now, its getting a little dry.

Not sure about Shelly Clink, but the name sounds vaguely familiar.

Kiss92 lost way too many DJ's along the way, and kept replacing them with inferior talent. They kept cancelling shows as well, like Slim's Slow Jamz at midnight...I thought the only decent replacement they ever picked up was Sam Cook for the graveyard shift, but she eventually got fired and went to Energy 108.

Is Energy still around anymore?

LOL! Humble and Fred USED to be on the Edge before they moved to Mojo, before they moved to Mix 99.9. Dean was who replaced Humble and Fred.

I think it was AM 640, what was the station name? AM640.

Pillow Talk was hosted by some dude, who I'm not sure.

Sex Lives and Audiotape was hosted by none other than Sue Johansen.

Believe me, I know; I listened to H&F on CFNY well over 10 years ago when I was back in high school.

They didn't have a snappy station name? That's odd.

Those were the days, the countdowns were just riddled with hits...I feel nauseated as the flow of garbage comes down countdown shows these days.

For the record AM 640 The New Beat of Toronto is the station that a few people have been referring to... It was full of a bunch of DJ's who got canned once 680 CFTR turned to all news... Jessie and Gene were on in the morning, Tarzan Dan in the afternoon and Kenny The Hitman in the evening....

By the way, Dean Blundell is freaking awesome.

Going back a few years, I really miss Humble & Fred on the Edge... Blundell is an idiot, and so is Todd. I pretty much stopped listening to the radio altogether, as I'm finding it harder to find any decent morning shows worth listening to. Hence, my search on the internet to find a decent station.
