I just wanted to answer a few questions I've noticed that have come up in the past and say thanks to everyone in this "RedFlagForum" that has posted my link or mentioned my site. This board and all these forums are great!

First off...I am not run by, owned by or affiliated in any way with those rat bastards at ROGERS. www.ihateROGERS.ca is an independent entity established mainly because ROGERS royally screwed me once. I said to the customer service rep, "I'm going to start a web site tomorrow telling people how badly you monkeys suck ass."

Her response was, "You do that sir."

10 minutes later I was on a site that registers domains checking for something catchy. The .com, .org and .net extensions were all reserved...by ROGERS none the less. But wouldn't you know it, as they are a Canadian company and provide services for Canadians in Canada, the .ca extension was never reserved. I guess it never occured to them that someone in Canada would have a problem with them and may use the Internet as a viable medium to lash out (so to speak).

Anyhoo...I get a great response and people love my official I HATE ROGERS T-Shirts. Currently being given away FREE to the best rant each month. Bumper stickers are coming soon and since I'm getting tired of paying out of my own pocket to maintain this site, I may even set up a little I HATE ROGERS Store and sell stuff for a buck more than it costs me to raise the $$ to cover hosting.

If you ever have a question a suggestion or a rant about ROGERS please send it in to either contact@ihaterogers.ca or rants@ihaterogers.ca I'd love to hear it, post it and enter you in to the draw for a T-Shirt. And if you think I'm just a whiny ***** and you LOVE ROGERS, I also have a Hate Mail section and you can e-mail me at ihateihaterogers.ca@ihaterogers.ca. You won't win a T-Shirt, but I do promise to insult, degrade and humiliate you to the best of my abilities.

Thanks again and if you have an opinion, don't be shy.

Actually I'm not at all bitter. If it's your nature to let someone walk all over you, I pity you. I have never allowed anyone to take advantage of me or treat me unfairly and I never will - uncluding Corporate Canada.

In addition my site has provided many people with alternatives to ROGERS' services. People who said, "You know what...you're right! Why stay with this company I'm unhappy with?"

If you're happy with ROGERS...great. If you're not, do something about it. I did.

I was looking for this site! I thought it was rogerssucks.com, but when I went to that site, it redirected me to rogers.com.

My gf is planning on dumping Rogers Lite. Rogers' plans on increasing their Rogers Lite monthly fee by $5.00. Too much for a crap service.

Unfortunately no, it was one of those notes they put on your bill. I know it is effective June 1st. Mind you, she lives in an apartment. But I can't see why it would just affect apartment dwellers.

Same .. KNOCK ON WOOD!! We have 3 cellphones, and Hi-speed , and digital cable.. and although we've had the odd fall-outs here and there, we've never had anything major. I'm moving to a new house next month, and I'll probably get Rogers cable/hispeed there too. I do acknowledge that their techs are completely useless.

Mind you I dont use Rogers anymore (using cogeco in Oakville), but when I was living in Toronto 2 years ago, I had my connection lost for about 2-3weeks  (was during that period when the TA's at UofT had their strike).
Tech support was absolutely useless, and since I only had a cellphone it really killed my airtime when they put me on hold constantly.

Me too I've had really good experiences with rogers.

My dad has had cable with them for over 20 years. We have 5 cellphones, digital cable and internet with them. Whenever I've had any problem they've always given me credits. Last week my cellphone wasn't functioning for 40 minutes and they gave me a 2 week credit.

I don't like Sympatico Internet, even though I use them cuz they offer cheap rates. Their Internet scammed me by charging me regular rate when I had applied for the cheap rate, for a couple months, since I didn't "change my userID" when the bastard who signed me up said I would get teh special rate.

And then when they had the new policy of bandwidth limits, they didn't tell me and then I got a surprise in my bill of >$60, and didn't even get notified by phone or mail.

So let me get this straight...last week your cell phone was functioning for 40 minutes. In a 7 day week there's only what...10,080 minutes right? Actually for ROGERS, 40 / 10,080 is pretty darn good. I can see why you're so content.

I still don't see how that's any better. I've had a fido for about 2 years and I have never lost service...ever. I am also on Telus' Mike network and have experienced 1 outage for 10 minutes in about 4 months. As well for a while I was on Telus' prepaid and never experienced a single problem.

Outages with ROGERS cable, internet and wireless services is basically part of their service. The bottom line is if you're happy with them by all means stay with them. I was more than disappointed with their services (cable, digital cable, internet & wireless) and with the way they handled some problems that they were responsible for and www.ihaterogers.ca was born.

I would say from the e-mail I receive, and I do receive a fair bit of mail in favor of ROGERS, it's about 20 to 1 for people who are as fed up with them as I was.

LOL...No mcfoo those pix are not of me...although I have to admit I resembled him the very last time I spoke to a ROGERS customer service rep. And thanks btw for the nice things you said about the site.

And "S.L.", the guy you quoted happens to be my next door neighbour and my best friend. There's a link for 2 pictures here - http://www.ihaterogers.ca/home.htm taken from the front of his house where a ROGERS installer screwed their ground wires in to the gas meter. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is? And ROGERS refused to send someone back to fix it. Consumers Gas sent a truck over immediately to fix the problem.

So believe me, even though he's my best friend and next door neighbour I did not have to coerce him in to posting.

It's a great site to which I have contributed, but I have to comment that the number of rants makes reading it a bit of a chore. I think the rants section needs to be reorganized so that you can see a list of rants for each month. That way you can read the latest rants without having to click through 20 pages.

Kenny...if you have had a bad experience, send it in to me and you might win an official I HATE ROGERS T-shirt.

rants@ihaterogers.caHere's one: i was paying for HIGH-SPEED cable interent... and i was getting 25kps.... that's slower than a 28.8. This went on for months... and took about a call week for those months. Their customer support people, although useless, were usually very nice. The tech guys they send, although also useless, are pretty cool too.

Compare that with staples: not only are their customer support people useless, but they sound condesending and arrogant. Futureshop... some of them, even the managers, often get down right hostile over things that they already agreed to do anyway. (i.e. honouring verbal agreements made before a sale.) I've dealt with Toronto Hydro folks there too, and they are get down right hostile. They've actually called me a liar, admitted they made a mistake, then changed their minds and called me a liar again. Of all the bad experiences i've had... rogers is fairly good on the bad list.

The only large-chain company that i've consistently gotten good service from are sears and sportmart.

I don't have cable from Rogers, so I never have had cable Internet ($10 extra if you don't have cable TV).

(sorry for this psuedo-off topic post, but)

I just got off Sympatico and had to deal with an assclown CSR yesterday because Symaptico removed my Nortel linecard and didn't put in an alcatel as requested.

First time I got angry at a CSR for being such a jerk. "Sorry sir, we can't do anything for you because you are not our customer". (You didn't complete your job, bastards). I was disconnected two days prior, and I had called that day to confirm removal and insertion of the new card. I wasn't a customer then, but they still called the CO for me to make sure everything as going as planned.

Now I'm Internetless for 5-10 business days at home.

Down with Rogers! Down with Sympatico!

So what do you use now, ihaterogers?

LOL I love your legal disclaimer on the site.
Will be sending in a rant as well.
I have a question for you regarding the other alternatives for DSL.
When I tried to switch over from Rogers to Bell high speed I was not able to do so. The service was in my area as I was told. But I was also told that being in an older neighbourhood that my phone line went to a futher switching station then the one that was closer. Therefore I was out of range to be able to access their service. They did nothing for me to help me get the problem corrected.
Now onto my question, If that was the case with bell would that also be the case with the other DSL companies that go through the phone lines?

im pretty happy with rogers

today i called up to ask for a extension on my free PPV movies, woman on the other end gave me a extra week, last month the rep on the phone gave me a whole month heh

then i called htem up to tell them to not charge me for a extra outlet jsut cause i have 2 digital terminals (1 regular/1 HDTV)

i told them i use the HDTV one until sept 2004 when the free promo was over then return the HDTV and continue using my regular one...she said no prob

also i havent been capped on downloads (knock on wood cause i grab 100gb and up 30-50gb a month) but the speed is capped at 150k/20k which is better than bell

cell phone wise, i use a gsm phone with them, not the greatest reception in basements but the coverage wise is good, and cheap cause im on thier corporate $20 plan for unlimited weekends/nights and 150 anytime

guess it depends on the rep who you talk to and how you talk to them about your problems that they will help you.

overall im satisfied with rogers

You can't exceed your bandwidth usage because they cap it themselves. They are misusing the word "bandwidth", which is supposed to refer to maximum transfer rate possible.

Bandwidth is NOT "amount downloaded per month".

Bob Carrick

Actually bandwidth is either speed or amount. it's a flexible term

mbg

Actually bandwidth is either speed or amount.  it's a flexible term

Use of "bandwidth" to describe monthly download limits is a misunderstanding of the term.

Some loose definitions of "bandwidth" allow it to apply, but this is a fault of these definitions. If the use is widespread, it was probably brought about by some guy with an arts degree who wanted to play techie.

In the case of the above examples, "bandwidth" determines the amount of time it takes you to download your 20GB per month with a constant stream of data. Your 20GB per month is not your bandwidth because the connection is capable of so much more than that (and that "capability" is the bandwidth), hence the cap.

If your bandwidth allowed 20GB/month, you would not need a usage cap :)

When I was in Montreal a couple years ago, Fido was AMAZING. (It better be considering Microcell is there) Full reception indoors everywhere. Granted I was in the downtown area most of the time, but I remember how often I would have a bad connection in Eaton Centre in Toronto w/ Fido.

Occassionally I send their legal dept. an e-mail asking them a question, like if they'd like to sell me one of the domain names they own like ihaterogers.com...but for some reason they never respond.

Oh, I got your rant and I'll have it posted over the weekend probably. When it's up I'll send you an e-mail.

I know that this Thread is old but each and everytime i go to a mall I always go into a Rogers Store and use there computers and i open IE and type Http://www.ihaterogers.ca and i leave IE upen and then leave the store.

My Internet Usage

In an effort to keep pace with the evolving Internet needs of our Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet customers and to continue providing you with a fast and efficient service, we have implemented a combined upload and download bandwidth limit of 61,440 Megabytes (60 gigabytes) per month. This is a very generous limit which is approximately equal to the consumption of a typical customer in an entire year. This limit was announced on February 15 2005 and will take effect starting March 17, 2005.

New Internet file sharing applications have had a dramatic impact on the way people use the available network capacity. It is Rogers? responsibility to ensure that we can deliver the level of service our customers are expecting. This limit is one of the measures we are taking to address this issue.

To enable you to be informed about how much data you are using each month we have also introduced a Usage Measurement tool, to be available to all customers beginning February 15, 2005.

I didn't read the whole thread, but you should take Fido off the site, since Fido is owned by Rogers and Rogers is making Fido worse and worse.

rogers sucks, I switched my 2 cellphones after 4+ yrs of service cause their servc personell treated me so rudely, I would switch my house''s high speed if DSL was available in my area, unfortunately, without Rogers cable service, I would have to use dialup for internet

I hate paying $60/month to Rogers still, but since they have no competition in Markham/Richmondhill, nothing can be done

F*CK ROGERS (SHAW)!!

Rogers and Shaw are completely different companies, owned and controlled by two completely unrelated families. Not sure if you were implying this with your comment, but just thought I'd clear this up if anybody else around here mistook this for both being the same company.

I don't use any of Rogers' services, but I must say that ad hominem and straw man style attacks and just plain foul language that are everywhere in this thread don't do much to help your credibility in having your complaints taken seriously (at least by me anyway).

Complaining is good, but being like "OMG... like teh RoGerZ email wuz down for like 6 hours yesterday, and when I foned teh RogErrrZ tehy told me that they're system wuz d0wn... yeahhhh right!!!111!!! F*kurz.".

I'm not defending Rogers, but newsflash people - technology isn't flawless.

I find it extremely amusing that FIDO is listed as a wireless alternative, despite the fact they are fully owned and operated by Rogers.

Tigerhawk, if your gf has some frustration over her ROGERS experience tell her to send me an e-mail about it and I'll post it...she may even win an official I HATE ROGERS T-Shirt! Send it to rants@ihaterogers.ca

Oh btw, I have no idea what happened to the rogerssucks guy, but that site wasn't mine...just in case you or anyone else was wondering.

rogerssucks was shut down by Rogers and they bought the domain. And guess what, for a while it redirected to rogers.ca LOL ! what a bunch of idiots.
I've been posting the link to your website on this forum every time I had the opportunity.
Keep on the good work !

Edit: Didn't notice the thread was so old. (still hate rogers though).

Yeah doesn't seem to work. Too bad.

I don't wanna give out the dude's personal info if he still owns it but looking up the domain registration, I'd have to guess by the name/address that it's still owned by a private person (or small company). So Rogers doesn't own it but they may have told him to take it down since they HATE bad publicity.
