Vaughan vs. King City vs. Aurora vs. Newmarket vs. Bradford vs. ?

Hi - I'm looking at leaving Toronto in the near future and heading north. The Wife would like to stay in Toronto and move to Avenue and Eg but I can't quite afford a $600 000 mortgage. ;)

So, for those who live or live in the GTA, what are the pros and cons of the various regions?

I'll likely be taking the go train into work since there is a stop nearby. Any areas that I should not live in in these regions?

Looking to spend below $375 000 and preferably below $325 000.

Any related advice would be appreciated.

what about Markham?
Markham is a nice lil area =)
its fairly quiet and safe but its not that far from the action.

Just curious, why north to York Region and not to Peel, Halton or Durham?

Ah, I'm a lazy commuter - want to take the go train that has a stop near my workplace (York U). It is on the Barrie - Union line.

And I don't really like buses although the Viva buses are pretty neat.

Oh, then I'd think that NewMarket would have the most bang for the buck. I can't back that up though....

Lots of new development in Vaughan, and it's not that far from "civilization". I live in Concord, which is about about 5-10 min drive to the Toronto border. Maple/Woodbridge are a bit farther away but lots of nice houses being built there.

Is that where you live? I heard it is a nice place with a small townish feel.

no but i worked there during the fall it has a small town feel but it isnt too far.

I'd say Markham, mainly because the real estate value of your home is bound to rise up quite high once the downtown area gets developed as planned.
