View Full Version : Ever feel guilty skipping work?

Guilty in the sense that you know it's a day's wage lost, but you just need it sometimes. For those of us without the luxury of having paid for sick days, have you ever taken a day off to relax only to have the guilt and remorse ruin it?

Been working 2 jobs lately and it's taking it's toll on me. I have aches all over as well... at least more than usual today ;)

I think I've skipped work twice in my whole life. Both times, I felt really guilty.

I feel guilty for just about everything I do. Just sitting here on RFD I feel guilty because I could potentially be doing something more productive :-P

Hell no. I work at Remingtons down on Yonge street and I don't feel guilty skipping work at all. Trust me I hate a sausage fest, I only attend them to pay off rent and tuition.

You're not really helping my cause here.

Anyways, I have a lot of errands to run today so it won't be all fun and games at home. Working 7 days a week for the last month; I think it's incumbent upon me to at least spend some of that money I've made :D

It depends, if it's a nice day and I'm doing something then I don't otherwise if I have nothing to do then I feel bad because I could've saved the sick day for another day that I could of used to slack off.

After that fateful phone call, do you head straight (lol) down to Church street and enjoy the energy of Freddy Mercury and George Michael look- a -likes? Or are you more of a Rick James fan?

The emotion you're describing doesn't really sound like guilt to me, it's more likely remorse or possibly even regret.

Don't feel guilty for taking some time off when you're working 7/week. Unless you have some huge debt to pay off, you should feel guilty for all the taxes you're paying.

hell no.

I just think of a guy I used to work with. He was there all the time, nights, weekends, etc. He had months and months of vacation time to use. Paid vacation to, thought the place would fall apart with out him (IT department - Networking)

He died a couple summers ago and within a few weeks he was replaced. No one barely even talks about him.

So theres the thought of the day if you think work cant get on without you, or if you put more energy into work then your family or friends

When I die it will be left owing my company a few weeks of holidays and owing the bank a couple hundred dollars :D
