Just bought 2 more jugs. This stuff is good. A couple of sprays and wipes from your wipers and it treats your windows

Is this the teflon pink stuff that's geared for only during the summer? (no sub zero temperatures)

Does it really make a difference on your windshield? I bought a bottle at full price awhile back and was not impressed with the results. Didn't repell any more rain or wash off bugs any better, at least not for me. But this is still a warm deal at 1.99 since you can use it as winter wash at -35.

The RainX Windshield Washer fluid has Summer and Winter version.
The Summer version is pink in color and only good for temperture above 0 C. I find this Washer do better on removing bug when I drive between Toronto and Ottawa.
The Winter version is yellow in color and good for temperture down to -40 C.
It is pretty good to help de-ice the windshield.
On average, I only use half a jug of washer fluid in summer and one full jug of washer fluid in winter. I prefer to pay $2 (Summer) +$2 (Winter) more per year for a better washer fluid in my car.
$1.99 is a good price for Summer RainX washer fluid. I just brought 2 Summer RainX in Canadian Tire last week for $2.39 each.
PS: If the wiper blades is bad, you will get bad result, even through you are using the best the washer fluid.

I like RainX. it helps the moisture flow away from the windshield as you drive, so you can use your intermittent setting.
The winter stuff adds new meaning to "don't eat the yellow snow" when you use it to clear your heavily frosted windshield.....

SAve your money and buy Wynns Rain-Away.
One application and you won't even need your wipers, except for heavy downpours.

That's a lot more work than just pouring into your tank though, is it not? It involves cleaning the windshield throughally, wiping, drying, and making sure it doesn't touch the finish on the rest of your car?...

The RainX / Rain Away spray on stuff is great.
I rarely have to use my wipers in the summer...only when I'm not moving or moving really slow. The more rain and faster speeds the better it clears.

I got the jug with the blue stuff. The choice of truckers. It was acceptable.

Can anyone confirm if this is nationwide? I just checked at the Walmart at Bloor/Duffering (Toronto) and it was the price on the shelf tag said $2.77.

Sure its more work, but it lasts for a long time.
How long does a jug last?

The biggest mistake is washing your windows at the gas station when you fill up with gas since it will destroy the rain-x coating on the windsheild. When used properly Rain-X is amazing you can drive on the highway during mild rain and not even have to use the wipers since it all streams right off the windsheild perfectly.
I try to get everyone I know using Rain-X, but you have to warn them not to use the gas station squeegee to clean off their windows when they get gas. Just use some more Rain-X and your wiper blades to clean it off.

hmmm is it really worth it, sometimes generic ones would be approx < $1 for a 4L jug?

I bought two jugs of this stuff last year. After using the two jugs, my wipers had gone to hell. They streak like mad, I'm not blaming the rainX formula 100%, age is always another factor. I'm not going to pay a premium for windshield fluid though. Another reason its worthless to me, I never drive on the highway.

the rainx windshield washer fluid (winter) is horrible
it leaves crazy amounts of streaks and it looks like your blades have died...
i suggest using the stand alone rain x stuff if you want to get the rain flying off the windshield effect.. a bit more work to apply but it works well..
also using something like rubbing alcohol to get rid of oil and grime (and rainx winter stuff) off your windshield works well

For Honda's and Acura's that can take a full 4 L jug, I don't think there's any reason to buy summer washer. The fluid is not used a lot in the summer and you don't want it to freeze on the windshield blocking your view in winter.

from my understanding there is 2 types of this rainx summer stuff then? One that is something you apply manually (as this person and the other guy said) and the effect lasts a long time, and one that is just normal washer fluid???? Or do you use the normal washer fluid for the manual application???

Doesn't this stuff, or perhaps windshield washer fluid in general eat away at the cars paint overtime? especially on the highway when you spray your windshield. Some excess fluid goes to the back of the car causing the paint to fade? I believe thats what happend on my last car?

There are two types yes.
The stuff you have to spray/rub on by hand after you clean the windows. This causes water to bead when it falls on the windshield, and if you're driving over 50km/hr, the wind will blow it off your windshield. Don't use windshield wiper fluid if you're got this on.
I find with this one, that even when you get dirt and stuff on your windshield, the slightest bit of water will be enough to clean it off. Great for vans where you don't have wipers on a lot of the windows.
The other type is windshield wiper fluid. Never tried it, but I personally don't like using wipers at all. In fact, I probably have not used wipers in the last three or four years at all.

i've used the windshield wiper fluid and i love it. the rain just beads on the window. when you drive fast enough, the beads of water stream off your window without having to use the windshield wipers. good product imho. love it for the highway.
