I would also like others opinions. I'm a beginner home owner looking to start a good tool kit. All help is appreciated thanks!
I haven't seen the set myself, but I would recommend going in and playing around with each item. Things to look for:
- tool too heavy? expecially if these are battery operated, is it too heavy with the battery? For other tools, the check can also be if the tool is too light. also, is the weight balanced? I have a few Mastercraft tools and I think they have good balance.
- grip? sometimes the grip is bad and tires your hands out too fast. get something comfortable
- is it variable speed? do you want it to be? for example, you'd want the drill, recip saw, and jigsaw to be, but the circ saw won't be
- enough power? hmmm... hard to give numbers here, but compare them against other offerings. last thing you want is to try to cut thru something and it "just won't go"
that's it for now...

Yes, it's a POS. I'm going to be returning it today. It was in the sun today and has already sprung a leak and some parts are wider than others. I think the sun melted it (I live in Toronto, not Arizona), so the quality is pretty shoddy.

The namebrand is Sunforce. When I first turned it on, I didn't think it was very bright, but it's probably due to the fact it uses LEDs and I was in a lit room.
I just used it in the dark and it shines bright enough, I'm just more use to regular flashlights.

I personally would not recommend power equipment by Jobmate based on RFD feedback from the past, but maybe this one is good, I have not tried this specific one.
I got this air compressor when it came with the brad nailer attachment for 99. It does its job well - the nailer has plenty of power to drive 2" brads, and I have used it to inflate some tires and also the blower attachment.
However it doesn't have the CFM for an impact wrench or anything, but of course who would expect that in a 59.99 compressor.
All in all I would say it's a good deal for what it is.

I would also like others opinions. I'm a beginner home owner looking to start a good tool kit. All help is appreciated thanks!
I don't own any of these specific tools. But I have the 12v mastercraft cordless drill and I love it. Nothing beats a cordless for ease of use, and the batteries on it last a good while. I would expect the 18v model to be simmilar except with more power behind it.
If you are a beginner, my personal reccomendation would be to snag this set now cause it is a really good deal - you don't see this combination of cordless tools at this price in a non no-name brand very often, and you're going to want them all at some point or another.
Once you start tackling major projects you are going to need corded versions of these for one reason or another, but the cordless versions are always very handy to have and you'll use them almost weekly around the house.

I just wanted to add one item I thought was decent deal -
http://images.canadiantire.ca/media/images/Assortments/PrimaryAssortments/Tools/ShopEquipment/WorkLights/0523258_450_CC_3e3d5.jpg
$10.99
Which is less than replacing some ballasts.

Not much stock I found between two CT stores (1st sold out, 2nd had 4 and I bought 3). They're a little flimsy on the connector end and they flicker when they are turned on, but for basement lighting I found them to be perfect.

Thanks AG - wondering, how long does this normally take you to do?
Takes anywhere between 1 and 2 hours... Normally I do not have a time to do everything at once, so I save the posting in separate file and continue later, so at the time I actually do the posting - everything is complete.

My indoor timer broke down last week. So I picked up one at CT today. They're on sale for $3.99. Customer Care has the $5 coupons. With tax worked out to $4.59. They actually paid me 41c + 5c in CT money to buy the timer. Now that's coool
Just a word of caution - These $5 coupons CAN BE used with the digital timer that's on sale this week too. One of the cashiers was so sure it could not be used. I went to the other cashier and she accepted it - no questions.

Any thoughts on the Karrite Expedition 16 cu ft for $375? Regular $499.99.
It looks like last years Thule Evolution and I've heard Thule own Karrite?
* Wide silver-body carrier is ideal for snowboards, golf clubs, and most skis
* Aerodynamic design
* ABS construction
* Carries a maximum of 6-8 pairs of 180cm long skis
* Perfectly sized to allow rear hatch access on wagons and SUVs
* Side opening, lock included
* Fits most factory installed and aftermarket roof rack systems

This looks to me like high end version of the ski/snowboard carrier, you may consider following this link (http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/browse_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444189 0819&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396669474&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474396670271&bmUID=1149011806489&pppCurrentPage=1)
and review Sportrack version of carriers ranging from $79.99 to $199.99 regular price.
If they are sufficient for you - you can always ask the associate if they ever go on sale, and if they do - you can wait for the sale.
However if your preference is more expensive high end unit it might be the good choice.
Also it might be good idea to check places like Costco and Sams Club as they may have some good deals on these items if they carry them. :)

Any comments on the Simoniz rim cleaner? I'll try it for sure, for $3.50 why the hell not.
But has anybody already tried it? How well does it work?

I personally would not recommend power equipment by Jobmate based on RFD feedback from the past, but maybe this one is good, I have not tried this specific one.
I have one of these little compressors. Good enough for blowing up tires, etc. but the hose is cheap and don't expect it to drive impact tools or whatever. It is nice and compact.

Thanks brunes, inno, for the feedback about Jobmate compressors, I will include them in future postings then (when on sale). :)

Those laser etched impact sockets will lose the markings with time. But they should replace them on warrantly. I actually recomment getting each of the smaller sets, since this big set is missing some important sizes, such as the 18mm
The 163 piece set is good, i would not hesitate to buy it.
The stubby wrenches are nice. The tape is OK.
All the paint on those fiberglass handles on the adjustable wrenches will chip off if you throw them in your toolbox so i would not buy them.
The tap and die set is crap.
That hose is crap too.
mlc2000, the 166 set was not a better deal. You dont get a 1/2" ratchet. And the non maximum ratchets only have a 4 tooth pawl. The maximums have about 9 teeth that engage. The mechanism is also different in pawl placement. The regular ratchets use an old placement where the pawl is inside the rotating part, and all the pressure you put on the ratchet gets put on a pin that is a pivot for the pawl. The maximum series have a banana-shaped pawl that wedges itself between the rotating part and the side of the case. The more pressure you put on it, the harder it clamps. So they should never skip a tooth causing you to skin your knuckles.

please could someone check in the flyer to see if there are any oil change specials? (need to do one before AirCare) Reason I can't check is that our condo strata doesn't allow some of the community flyers...
Appreciate it if you could look for me :)

Try WAL-MART..Basic oil change is $19.97 here in ONTARIO.
I have used them for the last 8 years or so. I have had NO problems with their oil change. I drive a lot and get my oil changed every month.
You can also acess CANADIAN TIRE Eflyer from their website, however there is no oil change info that I could find.

CT actually has "Oil Change Special" this week in the flyer :
$24.95 + Free Battery test (Including computerized printout)".
However I think that deal mentioned by Curiosity is better and $19.95 in Walmart soudns like a better deal. :)
The good time to use CT is when they have $29.95 Oil change special that includes tire rotation + they usually give some goodies for free, like multitool or engine cleaner etc. ;)

any comment on this set?
I have the 18V set and i like it, the circular saw is nothing to speak of but everything else works great. I like the reciprocating saw for when I just want to demo something but the drill is the most used tool by far.

I know it is small, but it would be good for fixing flat tires / airbrushing and air guns etc. ?
I have this one, noisy, very noisy for inside the house ( airbrush ) good for tires and cleaning with air.
That is all, built quality is not bad for Jobmate stuff.

Why isn't the new flyer up yet? A couple months ago we had several different people competing to put up the CT deal, and it was great, and now I always have to wait till friday night/sat morning. I just love the CT deals.

Woah, chill out. I won't take it on because I don't get the flyers delivered, if I did I wouldn't need to check here to see what is on sale. Anyways, I just find it funny that a couple months ago there was like 3 posts at once about CT sales and now it's hard to find even one.
