I know it sounds strange, but I have something that plugs into a cigarette lighter, and I'd like to buy an inverter so that I can plug it into the wall.

I've looked and looked, and all I can find is ones that do the opposite.

Anyone know where to find these?

What you want is not an inverter, but a 12v DC power supply, like one of those standard cubes that plugs into the wall socket. Check how much power your device needs (watts) and make sure you get a power supply with sufficient capacity.

You probably won't easily find a DC power supply with a built-in cigarette lighter jack, since this isn't a common requirement. Your best bet might be to wire the connection yourself. You can either cut and splice the wires between the existing power cord and the DC power supply if you don't want to use it in the car any more, or buy a cigarette lighter jack from a place like The Source and wire it to the 12v DC power supply, or put your own quick-connect plug/jack in the middle of the device power cable so you can connect it to either type of power plug.

Well, I want to still use it in the car.

So Circuit City has a cig. lighter jack, which I can then wire into a DC power supply, I assume also available at Circuit City?

Here's a "how to" to add one to your PC.

They sell them w/ the coolers that have plugs for the car. if you go to that area in canadian tire or wal mart, I'm sure you'll find there, i just dont know if the watt and amp ratings are what you need

That's exactly what I need - thanks.

When I went to CT, I couldn't find anyone who knew what I was talking about.
