Vote: 1900XTX Crossfire or 7900GTX SLI setup?

What do you think which one is the best setup for gaming pc?

Dual 1900XTX Crossfire Setup or Dual 7900GTX SLI??

The motherboard that goes with them is A8R32-MVP Deluxe and A8N32-SLI Deluxe.

Which one do you prefer?

I know that the ATI support HDR and AA/AF at the same time and nvidia can't. ATI has better picture quality and.. ... umm

After switching over to nvidia, I still miss my ati card. Nothing but good experience since the VL bus days ( although it's a ***** updating the drivers ).

I keep searching for the benchmarking and comparsion from tomshardware and anandtech.com. Is there any other website tell you more about benchmarking stuff?

I'm quite the opposite. I recently made the switch from ATI to Nvidia and I couldn't be happier. I like supporting ATI as a Canadian company but my experience with Nvidia has been stellar.

Honestly though, the performance between the two is so similiar and you are paying such an extreme amount, I'd really recommend getting whatever is cheaper that week.

I do really like the Nforce4 chipset though; although I haven't had much experience with the ATI chipset yet.

In addition to your points supporting ATI, Nforce4 motherboards are power hungry and run very hot, subsequently adding heat to everything else inside the case. Xpress3200 chipset performance is comparable to NF4 plus it's not as power hungry and runs cool.

Anandtech recommends the X1900 for Oblivion:
"At the high end, there's no better solution than ATI's Radeon X1900 series. While NVIDIA can offer similar performance with the GeForce 7900 GTX, its minimum frame rates aren't anywhere near as high as what ATI can deliver, meaning that the X1900 series will give you a much better overall experience."

What would be the best bang for buck in an SLI or crossfire setup? I would love to try it out but can not see spending $600+ on a setup. Or is dual GFX cards only for the elitist?

Wouldn't it be $1200 for the video cards alone? There is really no justification for SLI/Xfire unless you're powering your games on a Dell 3007 or ADC 30" monitor at native resolution.

i've seen some benchmarking highscores and x1900xt crossfires are at the top, that being said, you could wait for the quad sli to come out for the nvidia chipset.

yeah, there has a newer choice, the 7950GX2.

What I am thinking is, this is an upgrade and I am thinking to go for ATI 1900XTX Crossfire. I won't go for Dual 7950GX2 cus there has no drivers for that, the drivers will release at the end of summer which is pretty much pointless to me. It is because at that time there will be some R600 or newer nvidia GPU that can do HDR + AA and directX support.

you can just buy one 7950 first and buy the second later if you want quad sli. the driver that is not released yet is for the quad sli.

The crossfire setup is the faster of the two generally, especially if your gonna use AA and AF. People just keep complaining how ATI's Crossfire is not mature, and a messy setup, I say its a conspiracy by the Americans to keep their money at home :| Woot Canada :D

I'll be using a crossfire setup, just because nVidia's Intel SLI chipsets have been reallly bad in the past.

hmm, tought one, but right now, scratchiepants and limpid are selling their 7900gtx for $525/500 respectively cause they gone to 7950 i think.

Can you give us a list of games that you plan on playing, (cause some games do not support SLI)
