Hey all, I just have a question related to the Entry Test for applying to Seneca College.
I just want to know if there will be any math on an "English Test". I am applying for the Librarian Technician course and the test example paper they sent me via mail included both English on one side AND Math examples the other.
I'm worried now because I am not too strong in math!
Please can anyone from Seneca shed some light for me? Because my test is later on today >:(

thanks

It's a per program system, usually it's outlined if it's math or english or both. I know myself I had to take both, but that's because I'm in the Computer Engineering course.
I'm fairly certain since your program has nothing to do with math, and math isn't even a pre-requisit to get into your program, that you shouldn't have to write the math portion, as it was pretty tricky stuff when I did it. (Questions from all grades of high school.)
But welcome to Seneca, maybe I'll see ya around Newnham come September :P

They just do that to save money. That way they only need to use one sheet of paper.
I can't imagine why they'd have your write a math test to get in, so I'm going to go with just english. Did they send you a sheet telling you what time your test will be and what room? Does it say english entrace test or something like that?

like others side it depends on corse you're taking. As for the english it doesn't really matter. If you do poorly on the english they'll just make you take a non credit english corse (eac149). Dont worry to much

it's easier than the G1 test
you have nothing to worry about.
if you made it through middle school, you won't have a problem

That Seneca Test is a bunch of crap. I passed both the English and Math test and they still didn't give me the credits for both (they made me take the two extra courses). It was only in my second year when I spoke to someone in registration that they asked why I had took thoose classes (after it was too late).
Just relax and you'll do fine, the worst that can happen is that you have to take two extra classes (one for math and one for english). These classes are very basic and easy.

You only get credit if you pass a certain threshold (I believe you need an A).

Thanks a lot guys! Now all I gotta worry about is OSAP!
And I heard that THIS test would be a lot tougher than the English Entry test lol!

I accepted my offer to Seneca a few weeks ago now, and still haven't received anything in the mail.
It's the BCS program at the Markham campus. If I can get exempt from courses, that would be AWESOME.

They did something like that to us in 1st yr (not at your school though).
Anyway, we had to be within the upper xx% to be passed, the rest are automatically failed regardless of the mark they got.

Holy Crap I got the big envelope package from Seneca today! Now I am truly accepted.
Hey guys, how does OSAP work? Am I supposed to go visit the campus and sign some forms or am I supposed to be getting forms inside the package I just received?
And say, is OSAP like Welfare where they are extra paranoid and ask you a whole load of stupid questions??????
Please help!

When I took the admissions test 3.5 years ago, I passed the Math portion with flying colours (96%). The English portion was a bit tricky however, and resulted with a 68%. Although 68% may seem bad, it's actually quite good.
In any case, you need to take EAC150 in order to graduate (for the majority of programs). In BCS, you will need to take QMN106 (Business Mathematics) to graduate.

If you fail either you'll be in the EAC149 (English) or the QNM103/104 instead of being in QNM106.

i have all my grade credits including grade 12 math C and english C. I am required to write the assestment tests because of low marks. If i fail both test, may i apply for summer school for upgrade to get a 60% in math and english for seneca to make consideration to take me in without writing the assestment tests????

The tests were easy, if you don't pass, they make you take 2 extra courses thou, 'remedial' math and english, before you take the regular (required) math and english courses.
I only had to do the english test, and it was a joke, I got somewhere in the low 90s on it and my HS English marks were usually low Bs at best.

i failed the math assesment, but i passed the eng assesnment. I recieved a letter from seneca telling me to upgrade my math @ nightschool or @ seneca as part time student. If i don't go upgrade, will they put me in a crap math class but i will also have my other courses as well??????
