I shouldve posted this earlier to get more opinions but i forgot.

Basically i have a court date today because i got a ticket riding my bike in the crosswalk.

The story was i had the right of way last november going south on my bike and some idiot didnt bother slowing down or anythting while he was making a right hand turn so he nailed me and my knee was gone. the cop took my info on site while i was being treated and being taken to the hospital. So after about an hour, the cop comes to the hospital and tells me that he his supervisor said that he has to give me a ticket as well for riding my bike in the crosswalk and that he didnt know about it. So i need to get off this ticket that way there is more blame on the driver.
Any advice of what to say infront of the judge today ?

Just curious too see what you all think.

Thanks

Bikes have no place on the road.

what in the world are you talking about... i definately hate the way downtown couriers bike but to say all bikers have no place... that is pretty ignorant.

i'm not sure about the ticket but the judge may take into consideration your situation (hit) and chuck the ticket out the window. pretty minor offence anyway isn't it... like $40 max?

pretty sure $110 is the minimum amount for any ticket now adays

How about telling the judge that hurting your knee was lesson enough that you shouldn't be riding through a cross walk. Stress that you have learned your lesson and that you arnt in a financial position to pay for the ticket. If your a student stress the fact that your studying and mention your grade/level and marks, bringing a copy of your repot card. Judges love good students.

If your not a student just keep stressing that youve learned your lesson and would like a suspended sentance (legal mumbojumbo for no punishment)

If your in the City of Toronto you should be fine, if its a small town, you'll probably get like a $20-$30 discount and some additional time to pay.

I got a drinking in public ticket up in Wasaga for standing in front of our camp grounds having a beer, on a long weekend. A cop writes us up for it. Grrr damn money hungry small towns. Took it to court and ended up coming to like $100 with the surcharges they impose. If you factored in the gas it took to drive up to that damn beach ended up paying more then the face value.
