Well, been close to 4 years on one of my cars (the Nissan) and I want to pre-emptively change the battery (yes, somewhat obsessive you might say, but I'd rather avoid the inevitable battery death).
So what good deals/recommendations are there for high performance batteries?

I have used several Costco Kirkland batteries as replacements for originals. They have performed well, and lasted as long as the originals (5-6 years).
I don't know that I would call them high performance, as I used the correct replacement size of battery rather than an upgraded size.

funny this thread should pop up. i had to change my battery on the weekend and had it done at a petro-canada. an ac-delco 5 yr battery cost $120 + $20 labour. i had it done then stopped by wal-mart and saw an energizer battery of the same size for $99. d'oh.
so yeah check wal-mart. dunno how good/bad energizer is but if you're changing batteries every 4 years regardless it should be a moot point. The one i was looking at had 1000 cold cranking amps.

I used Energizer from Wal-Mart for 6 years and sold car with it still working perfectly. Oh, and all this years car had been parked on driveway at night, so all this Toronto winter morning cold starts... Never had a problem.

Was at walmart today but using the Energizer guidebook I did not see a single battery listed for a 2003 Nissan Altima.... (ggrrr) and yes they had Optima Red Tops also.
