OK guys

My dealership was really nice and said it was OK if I cancelled my rusting and paint protection (even though the finance manager pushed for it but she's on holiday :P)

Where should I get window tinting, rust proofing and paint protection?

I've reread your comments, guys, and some suggestions included:

1. getting rust protection for $40 without holes in the car from Walmart (not sure how reliable that is, and why it would cost $65 (ie. more) if they don't put holes in the car)

2. waxing the car with a bottle of wax for $10

3. Go to FX Auto in Markham. They have a special coupon for $397 for rust protection, paint protection and fabric protection. Also, they charge $250-300 for tinting depending on the tint you need. Both come with limited lifetime warranty.

Any other alternative suggestions would be welcome too. For now, I'd prefer getting it from FX Auto cuz I would rather someone do the waxing, etc for me than do it myself cuz I'm not a mechanic.

Also question: what tint level would u guys recommend for my car?

Thanks

seems like you got it all figured out...but the waxing...u don't have to be a mechanic or handy man to do it...just wash your car really nicely...let it dry and apply the wax...and wipe off the wax...that's not hard...just need some time and energy...but if u are lazy..u can pay other ppl do it for you...it will not be $10...they will charge u atleast $30 to $50...

personally, I would like to wax my own car...not just because I love my ride...but I want to see if there is any new chips or damages so i can seal it up before it rust...

How is the anti-rust stuff at FX Auto - i've always been told that Krown was the king of anti-rust.

For tinting, I suggest Thornhill Tints. Just do a search for them in this forum, or google.

35% tint is what most people choose. 20% is my preference, but is is a bit dark for some.

Don't bother with ANY kind of so-called paint protection or fabric protection from shops. You can do the paint protection by applying wax. For fabric protection go buy yourself a can of 3M Scotchguard fabric protection from WalMart for under $10 and spray it yourself.

Just bring your car to a shop for the rust proofing.

but I think Krown drills holes in your car. Just shudder at the thought of that.

Skip the rustproofing and paint protection. The only rust proofing that works uses motor oil and has to be applied regularly. Everything else is a waste of money because your car will still rust no matter what. Paint protection is just wax and you can do it yourself.
