I'm going to be taking the G1 written test very soon.

Anyone have any tips?

I have a question: Alot of the questions involve "150 metres". What are some of these things that involve 150M?

Thank you!

convert 150m to km?
something like, at x km/h what is the min. stopping distance for yada yada
omg, hi, I'm going as well, do you want to go together or something?

The g1 test i found was pretty easy. The signs are pretty straight forward. Remember
1. when do you lend out your license

The answer is never i believe.

2. When you come to a stop sign.

the answer is procede when it is safe to do so

There are also questions that pertain to tire wear and distances from fire hydrants etc...

I think there are 4 different g1 tests if i can rememeber correctly. But the best thing to do is read the test prep book once or twice. After that you should be good to go.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I'm still looking for the "150 metres" question. Can anyone expand on this and tell me what "150 metres applies to?

You're just like most high-school students before a test, rather than actually learnign something, they just memorize it. This is called cheating!

Make sure you study demerit points.

Don't be put off by the fact that there will probably be several signposts which are not in the official driver's handbook publication at all and you will just have to guess. I really thought they were having a laugh with me when I did mine and saw things like that.

Do study the demerit points system - a few questions on that for sure (would be nice to think you should never need to know that of course).

So do we need to basically memorize how many demerit points you lose for every infraction?

All you need is the answer book.

Just get the Chinese Version of Driver's Handbook(It's got english/chinese in one book). Should be available at most local chinese bookstores.

It's got all the answers. I swear when I took it back in 2003, every single MC question was in there.

I just looked at it a few times and aced the test. I didn't really think would be that easy before...but it was, all in one book.

I did mine in Feb. I just walked in, read the book, and did the test, and I passed. It's damn easy you need to be a fool to fail.

Do you have the book still? Would you mind scanning some pages for a fellow RFD'er? :D

There were a few hand signal questions on my test, those caught me off guard because I didn't see anything about them in the book. Just guessed on them and I passed anyway.

Thanks for your input, I know all the hand signs. :)

Out and down=Stop
Out and straight=Left
Out and up=Right

Correct?

Dude.

Slow down.

Breathe.

Grab your dictionary.

Look up "gullible (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gullible)". (See, I was nice, I gave you a link)

Now come back to this thread.

Yeah you should memorize these, because you could get a test that is heavy on questions asking about those. Penalties for driving infractions are another thing you should study. Everything else is common sense, and you dont really need to study for.

lol G1 was such a distant memory for me now. :) Fully licensed G over here :!:

As for the answer book, it's usually refered to the Chinese book among the people I know. It's just the multiple choice questions with the answers and even the odd pictures (IIRC). Haven't seen those being sold but I think those might be around for immigrants because it was Chinese/English on it.

ya, just goto any chinese bookstore (I went to one in First Markham Place) and get one of them answer books. Its got a yellow cover with road signs on it. Most of the stuff on the test is common sense or can be done with good educated guesses. But you should know it anyways, so might as well bite the bullet and study.

You should jus buy the chinese book that tells you all the answers. That book really helps you Ace the test

Why do you keep bumping the thread? People have already answered your question (many times).

Let the thread die now.

Maybe you should be studying the book instead of asking for answers? None of my friends needed the answer book and every one of them has passed so far. Unless you're a total moron with absolutely no common sense, you should be able to pass no-problem.
