The 802.11b standard is rated at 11 Mbps, where as 802.11g is at 54Mpbs. Both operate at 2.4GHz.

So your answer is yes. :)

is it mean the speed? i mean the range?

I'm afraid the answer is "No".

Reception has nothing to do with theoretical raw data rate.

Both b and g have a typical "indoor" range of about 30 meters.

My apologies, I misread the thread.

The answer would indeed be no, nether will have a greater range over the other as both are operating at 2.4 GHz, there is no clear winner.

The only way to change the range would be purchasing a Higher gain antanae.

Damn, I feel like an idiot for that one...

the "Ez-12" parabolic reflector.

Disclaimer - Have never used one, saw someone whoring the link up at /., figured if the unshowering/unshaving nerds there deemed it worthy of their time, it has to do something. :P

I would say B has better reception. However, I don't have anything to back this up. It is just by my experience. Same router and same PC. When it is G, they have problem to connect. If it is switched to B, they can. Of course, if the distance is shorter, the PC can connect using G too.
