Sounds interesting. I've had a blast with the no face button control method in Fight Night, so I'm optimistic. If it doesn't, there's always the vastly superior 2K series.

I can't wait for a dynasty mode with a friggin' cap. No more paying Crosby $30M/yr to stay on my team.

Stickinghandling is overdue.
I still say the players should lose their sticks when they get checked hard enough.

I'm actually surprised they didn't do this stick handling thing years ago. I wanted this the moment I saw a PS1 pad.

It's been confirmed that only the xbox360 version of NHL07 will have the dual analog stick controls. All the other versions will be an upgraded version of NHL06.
It sucks considering I don't have a xbox360...
I believe NHL07 was developed by another team.

Yup, only XBOX 360 is next-gen. All other platforms are current-gen, which sucks.

The xbox360 version was developed by the guys at EA in Vancouver, everything else was developed by the guys in Montreal I believe.

I saw some videos for the PC version of NHL 07, and it almost looks exactly like NHL06. They should have at least changed the annoying commentary.

Bought it for PC today, so far my only gripe is the default controls are really gay, a lot harder to get used to, it feels like they tried to make it next-gen but failed. I just set them to what they are in NHL 06.
MrWizard

Some more gripes: They haven't really updated the goalies equipment in the game. Aubin for example still has black, gold and white pads.
It is basically NHL06 with a few minor tweaks. They've implemented a cap system into the dynasty which is awesome because then I don't have to pay guys ridiculous amounts to stay around. The minor league management is also kinda cool, rather than just having guys dressed/scratched, you can assign guys to the minors.

NHL2k7? 8.9!!!

One thing I've noticed this year, which has always occured is there is a glitch with the timing on the penalties. If I'm on a 5-on-3 powerplay and they get another penalty, that 3rd penalty shouldn't start until the first one ends, but all that happens is it continues as if that 3rd penalty was never called.

It's not much different seeing it's only by .2 BUT if you compare the Break Down it gets interesting...Presentation and Lasting Appeal is the difference with NHL 2K7...!!!
Too many EA Fan Boys...I hope NFL 2K can get the NFL License back when EA's (dirty/low...shows fear) deal ends...!!! LOL

I just played a game of NHL2k7 against my bro. I had been going through the tutorial challenges for the new Pro-Control mode, the Player Pressures, and the In-game coaching. The pro-control mode is frickin' genius. No more skating back and forth up and down the ice!
It was a pretty damn realistic game too; ~28 shots each side (He was Vancouver, I was Ottawa), 2-1 SO final score.
My tying goal was a beautiful play; I was on the PP and Heatly had the puck on the side of the net. He skated around the corner, and fed a perfect pass (using Pro-control) to Alfredsson who, out of nowhere, FLEW into the slot and banged one past Luongo top corner.
+ The Dodge post-game highlights was a pretty neat feature too.
+ The Cinemotion camera is absolutely PERFECT. Indeed gets you closer to the action, without limiting your view.
- Takes some getting used to the timing of the puck drop though; its different than NHL2k5 which I previously had.
- In the Xbox version, their helmets look like they're made out of colored chrome, and the texture of the jerseys (especially lighter colored away jerseys) look like chain-mail. And whats with the hair?! Its like they all have a beaver-tail mullet thing growing out the back of their head.
+ Faces look good, and animations are superb.

NHL07 is horrible. A HUGE step down from previous games.
It's basically NHL06 with a Roster update...that needs to be updated. The goalies were supposed to be better, but its too small of a difference to matter.
the 360 version is a different story though, I had a chance to test play it last week and I was having fun. All current gen NHL07s are BOTCHED.
This may be a year when I prefer the 2k series

Finally, someone sees the light. I just dont get all the hype EA gets every year. They havent put out a realistic "gameplay wise" game for a decade.
I made the stupidest move and bought it yesterday, I knew I should have rented it, and I was about to.
Now im stuck selling it.
2K feels like a hockey game, EA junk defensive A.I. Same as 06, even EA admitted to it, they never worked on the A.I. this year. Gee wonderful EA, put out another half done product.

Where EA's NHL games are all about offense and sprinting up and down the ice holding TURBO and bodychecking everybody in range, the 2K's NHL requires you to play defense, ESPECIALLY with the new passing features.
In 2K, the D-men's positioning is crucial now that the offense can move the puck so much more efficiently. You can't just skate up to the puckholder and bodycheck them.

If I had something other than PC and a GameCube, I would test out 2k7, but I don't so I'm stuck with anything EA produces.
While it isn't great, I think it's an improvement over NHL06. The goalies, while still easily beatable aren't as bad as they were in 06, they spend less time flopping around in this one.
Yeah, the current gen is probably a half-assed product, but that is likely pressure from console manufacturers to get people to make the switch. Personally, I will be getting either a Wii or an Xbox 360.
