LOL! That's hilarious! If that's the war machines of the future then I think it's a good sign that we might finally achieve global peace.

Humanoid robotic war machines would be stupid. They have all the same weaknesses infantry do. Why would we need it? we already have machines that are most efficient at what they do. Land - Tanks are heavily armored all terrain vehicles with a big gun, efficient. Air - Fighter jets, king of the skies. WHy would we make walking robot things, it defeats the purpose of efficiency.

i think the company that created that thing was intending it to be used at exhibitions, i dont think its meant to do any real work.

Yeah, the whole mechwarrior thing is pretty funny to begin with. Apart from the whole "thumb" thing, has there ever been a worse design for warfare than the human body?

Walking robots would serve as intimidation on the battlefield. I mean when you see a tank you pretty much know what is going on, but when you see a robot you are like "wtf, what is it gonna do? Gundam styels? mechwarrior styles? transformer styles? Hentai styles?"

I agree though the robot in the vid is dumb even for exhibitions, not impressive at all. It only shows that some people have too much time on their hands.

When they are stymied by a steep bank? Or lying on their backs because of a light breeze/RPG?

Intimidation in the sense that your enemy thinks so little of you that they try to pull off a stunt like this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT-ST
All Terrain Scout Transports are bipedal war machines used by the Galactic Empire in the fictional Star Wars universe. AT-STs were seen in the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor in the movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The AT-ST can be referred to (in science fiction terms) as a "chicken walker" because of its shape and walking motion.

The AT-ST has chin-mounted double medium laser cannons, a concussion grenade launcher on the left side of its head and a blaster cannon on the right. This gives the AT-ST additional firepower against armored enemy units.
