I did a forum search and didn't find what I was looking for. Anyone know a good free program that will rip cd content to mp3 format? I have an ipod so it's not possible to play the wma format which can easily be ripped with WMP.

Free CD to MP3 Converter 1.8

Free CD to MP3 Converter is an easy-to-use free CD ripper software that allows you to extract audio files from a CD and convert them to MP3, Wav or Ogg format. It can automatically retrieve title information from the CDDB database, normalize the output files and supports additional LAME options. You can also use the software to record to MP3 with your microphone, or to convert WAV files to MP3 or Ogg format. Support ID3 tag edit. You can use it freely. Free CD to MP3 Converter used AKRip and LAME encoder. AKRip and LAME are licensed under GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE.

I like CDex, it uses the LAME encoder or any encoder you choose. It is easy to use and does it in one step

But I have to agree, to get the best possibile quality, use EAC and LAME together.

I've ripped all of my albums using this method. Takes some time, but well worth it.

While this may rip the best possible quality, it's also not necessarily the best options for the individual. It is how those music pirates would like for you to rip though, so that everything is in THEIR standards. They're kind of a joke in the EAC forums :D.

Use the guide as a last resort for EAC. I suggest the Coaster Factory tutorial, as it actually explains things: http://users.pandora.be/satcp/
