I am planning to make a purchase of a 42-50" Plasma TV.
I am looking at the Toshiba HP66/HP86.
The difference is that
- HP66 has digital ATSC tuner
- HP86 does not have digital ATSC tuner
I will be using Rogers HDTV... if I get the HP66 (with Digital Tuner), will I need the HDTV terminal?

In short - yes, to get access to Rogers HDTV channels you'll need Rogers HDTV box.
If you get HP86 you might be able to get content in HD free OTA (Over-The-Air) when you hook it with UHF antenna.

That's right. Even if the TV has a QAM tuner that allows it to receive digital channels from cable, it won't be any good because most, if not all, of the digital channels on Rogers will be encrypted. You need to get a set up box or a cablecard (not yet available, I think) from Rogers in order to decrypt the channels.

You will need a Roger HD box ... a built in tuner and even Card Slot port (rogers doesn't support it as of yet) won't work.
