Does anybody know when BestBuy was offering the free Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition with laptops? Was this version the full version or a 60-day version?

I only remember it for August 19 - September 6. Did they offer it earlier?

old question:

Which one of these BestBuy laptops offer the best value for its price? Duo core Mac laptops are tempting but most of the prices are kind of a turn-off. The last one is a Dell laptop.

Usage will range from development to gaming to video editing. My budget is $1300.

Feel free to let me know of any better laptops for similar or lower prices (doesn't have to be from BestBuy).

Thanks.

All HP and Compaq laptops come with a free 60 day trial version preinstalled. Sometimes it's all ready to go and you just need to enter the key (which is on one of the many pieces of paper that came inside the box) and sometimes you have to run the "Try the 60 day trial" shortcut which installs the trial from files already on the computer. After it's installed you must enter the key.

There was one week when they offered MSOffice S&T free with HP laptops. Then next week it was free with Compaq laptops. Not sure if they ever did it free with all laptops.

But if you did qualify for the free version then they would have grabbed it off the shelf (Comes in a dvd case) and rung it through on your receipt. It's a 100% full version. You would have gotten to take the DVD case (with key sticker inside) and disk home with you. If you didn't get it, then they either forgot to give it to you or you bought a laptop that didn't qualify.
