Hello guys, I am a new user to this board and I ams very exciting to join the RFD community...

Anyways I have a question to ask you guys: Has anyone ever imported a brand new car from California? I've browsed the threads posted by other users, but I don't really understand the importning process......

My Case: I have a brother that lives in California. We've done some online car shopping and we're amazed by the American prices. My idea is to get my brother to buy a car and then have him transfer it over as a gift.

Also, I understand there are different emission standards in the states... ones that are registered as "49-state legal" and "California legal". Is that something I should consider when it comes to importing the car into Vancouver?

Thank you very much guys!!!!!

:)

The gift thing wont work, you will still have to pay tax on the new car price when you import it.
