Hey guys/girls, just want to thank everyone for their help so far, but my family has decided that since we have hookups from Toyota and we loved the test drive, we are deciding on a Yaris. Now, the question is, LE or RS?

Looking at MSRP, the difference between the 2 cars is 23936 for RS and 21371 for LE (both with package B, after tax). The only difference remaining that I can tell are the bigger rims, side skirts, spoiler, fog lights that are on the RS..

is the RS worth the extra 2600? everything else is exactly the same...... so..

Please enlighten me, thanks guys/girls!

RS also has:
-60/40 split fold rear seats, that fold flat (LE's is a one piece)
-Gloss black center console (LE's is silver)
-Black door handle trim (LE's are whitish looking)

Whether or not all those additions are worth the price difference, is up to you. If you want a more sporty look/ride, go for the RS. If you want the most economical and basic transportation w/ standard creature comforts, go with the LE.

My brother has a 5-door LE and he loves it. Great little car.

im pretty sure the RS also has double tip exhaust in the middle(sorta like boxter design).......adds to overall looks.

are you sure? i think you may be confusing the Yaris with the Mini... the Cooper S has the center exhause tip.

If you really want it, take it...you don't want to regret afterwards...it's not like you can change your mind and exchange it...!!!

have to recommend the RS version for sure...

i have a 2005 echo RS (I know, not as new, but...)

the upgraded seats alone are worth the money, they are very comfortable and supportive... the echo(and yaris) stock seats suck!

I think the Yaris looks cute, myself. Like it's smiling or something.

$23k for a Yaris?! You're kidding, right? Thought they were about $15k.

Makes me wonder why you wouldn't spring for a Corolla - they must be under 23K loaded?

The base 3-dr Yaris starts at $13,725.

The top of the line 5-door RS with the B package is $18,895 (add $1000 for auto). So, $18895 + $1090 Frt + PDI = $19985 + tax = $22782.90. That's where the ~$23K price comes from. People seem to forget that you have to pay the gov't and that the dealers like to gouge you on the nonsense PDI.

Compare this to the Corolla SE (basically a base model CE with power options, sunroof and 14" rims) which starts at $18,855 for the 5spd.

So, your choice is get the entry level Corolla or a top of the line Yaris... for people who like/need a hatch, it's a no brainer.

Wow $23k for a Yaris?

And I thought $25k (OTD) for a top of the line Civic was alot.

Yes that's what my friend bought it for, she had contacts too.
It's not an SI, nor is it a hybrid. But it's a nice car.

If you think it's worth it, go for it.
Remember, if you believe in the Toyota marketing, thinking its worth it. Just like BMW markets the Minis to be worth it for $30k. Sure.

I personally wouldn't pay $23k for a Yaris. I'd buy the base, mod it.
Does the Yaris either RS or LE come with 4 wheel disc ABS? If not, base model is better. Save the money, get the racing seats that some RFDer has posted for $200 for a pair, buy some rims and tires. Exhaust can be bought after market. Same with fogs, but I'd go with PIAA.

Is it easier to pay more? Sure. To have your very own custom version, it takes time and sometimes can save $$$.

The EX Civic w/ Auto is over $28K out the door list... you have to compare apples to apples here (full list was the example). Now, the buy has to decide if the extra $5K is worth it for the Civic.

In my opinion, the Civic is a much nicer car, and that's why we ended up buying one (a 2006 LX sedan) instead of something a little cheaper like the Yaris. The Civic drives beautifully and is more and more like an Accord with it moving up market to make room for the Fit.

I would probably consider a year old Corolla over a loaded Yaris or Fit for that price, but that's just me.

My friend got it for a little of $25k, not $28k. At least that's what she told me. True. If you can, go used, like a used Corolla. Save on depreciation.

I'd opt for the Fit for sure between those three... next would be the Yaris. The Corolla is too much of an appliance for me... no fun.

Even then I wouldn't buy a first year release, at least let them work out the kinks. Still, I can't seem to wrap my mind around ditching out $23k for an econo sub-compact, with that kind of money there are alternative choices out there (for me anyways - as my needs/wants vary from yours).

Mind you though, that's exactly what I did. With $27k, I went with a used Prelude coupe (yes I realise I do mention my car quite a bit here - I'm Prelude whoring  ) over my choice of a brand new Civic/Corolla/Mazda3 at that time. I just didn't need/want the image of a 4-door family sedan, being single, and being my first car, I went with something I wanted and felt would be happy with. Maybe I'll regret it later when I have a family, but now it puts a smile on my face every time I revv that sucker up :D

the fit might be a first year release in north america, but the jazz has been selling forever overseas. . .

i suspect this model will have fewer 'birthing' glitches than most. . .

most people who want a vanilla 'tool' will buy that corolla because they don't value the same things that: made you want to get a prelude, and is the reason why the 3 was such a breakout vehicle for mazda.

there is tremendous value in a corolla, just no heart or soul. even the yaris hb is waaaaay more fun to drive than a corolla--for that alone (besides the utility of a hb) i would choose it over a corolla

Funny, I sold my 99 Prelude for a brand new (at the time) 2003 Protege5... the Lude was a great car, but I needed something more practical and cheaper to insure.

I would recommend getting a base model Yaris. the RS is not worth the money since you can spend MUCH less dressing up your Yaris on your own and to your taste. The only way I would pay that kind of money is if it had a bigger engine.

The fit looks like a smaller version of a Suzuki Aerio.
