Can someone suggest some laptops? Its mostly for school but i guess i wouldn't mind having some graphics capabilities on it as well. I looked at the MacBook Pro but I heard its not very good quality wise. I have never owned a laptop so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unless you are planing to do AutoCAD/3D Studio MAX/Cinema Craft/Photoshop type of work on your laptop, you shouldn't have to spend $1500-2000. For school type stuff, like Office, surfing, programming, etc.. you dont need anything more than a P3 with 256MB. If you want a fast laptop, 90%+ of slowdowns are caused by slow laptop hard drives, and cluttered clogged Windows with dozens of apps in system tray (not to mention adware/malware/trojans/viruses/worms etc)
However, if you insist on something new, there are many $500-$600 back to school bargins which would be much more than sufficient. If you are concerned about long term longevity, please do lots of research into make and model. A $2000 notebook from one company can have hunreds of defects and problems which a $1000 model from another company doesnt have. Higher price doesn't necessarily mean better.
And, if by graphics you mean game play, then for anything decent look for nVidia/ATI graphics. Good choice is GO 7700. Dell makes pretty good gaming laptops... but just a reminder that it is a conflict of interest with the "school part../
