yes. the res is so high the camera needs to use gigabit ethernet INSIDE the camera to transfer the picture from the sensor to a hard drive.

Na I'll wait until Sony releases a 160MP digital elf with the 6TB memory card, by then you'll be able to pick this thing up on a surprize special at ncix for $5.99

there is no Cf/sd card for it. the camera is just the senor everything else is ethernet wired to the storage pouch on the side. each pic uncompressed is 950 mb acording to the site.

imagine trying to load one of those pics on a mid range computer would take years just to resize it .

obviously this product isn't meant for the average consumer so theres no point laughing at the price/size/how long it would take to resize it.. its just a really specialized camera and it really is worth that much money

Of course they're going to be excellent pictures. What would you expect from a camera costing more than many houses in Newfoundland?

my question is why is K-Fed holding the camera ?

i wonder is britney bought him one for his bday.

yes. the res is so high the camera needs to use gigabit ethernet INSIDE the camera to transfer the picture from the sensor to a hard drive.

uhh...that's just stupid.

That might *sound* like a really cool thing but infact it is not. Gigabit ethernet itself is not very fast. Also ethernet is designed for long range transmissions, something the camera does not need internally.

They could've used something like SATA2 or PCI-E for faster internal transmission.

Not bad..

The pictures would be.. 16000x10240 . Weird aspect ratio, but yea... I agree with the gigabit connection, kinda silly.

For 38k and since its such a big size, I would've used a laptop harddrive for its memory, and bundled it with its own external chasis.... it'd be like a "SuperSD card" ;)

I was thinking the same thing. Just look at all the mega super expensive electronic items from 1996 and tell me how many have retained their value. They are all obsolete. $15,000 Pioneer 1x DVD-R anybody?

Aerial photographs? Microscopes?

The question is, does it record movie clips and with or without sound.
