There's only been a handful of deaths related to street racing in the past decade or so. Compare that to the number of deaths attributed to drunk driving.

obviously street racing deaths are less than drunk driving ones. But they're not simply a handful. Sometimes these people are never caught or due to a lack of evidence, they aren't convicted of the sentence they deserve (i.e: dangerous driving).
My grandparents were driving their friends around many years ago and a guy supposedly racing with another car lost control and spun through 2 or 3 lanes of traffic before slamming into my grandparent's car, killing 4 people including my grandma. While I can't prove that the guy's parents had the witnesses bought off, the witnesses slowly disappeared back to Hong Kong or somehow "forgot" how everything happened that night. Cuz of those circumstances, he ended up getting off light with probation and house arrest or something like that.

Many more children die in car crashes than kidnapping ... therefore kiddnapping isn't that big a deal ... right?

What was the point of this thread?
Street racers bla bla bla. Man WTF happens when you see dumbasses who are old folk on todays streets driving like a dumbass going to work driving and zipping around 120KM/H on normal roads, not the highway. The HECK? We probably have less deaths caused by street racing than deaths caused by idiots who are old and drive like this.
I see these type of drivers everyday when I go to school and places more than I see ""Street Racers"".
Grow up >:(

"Street racers" are nothing more than a few immature people, non-age dependent, having a mental-lapse in judgement. Street racing is pretty much as irresponsible as you can get with a car.
Men race on the track, not on the streets. Children run the streets.
Keep our streets safe, god bless!

I'm not sure if people race or not during the day time.. but ppl are sure in a hurry to go to places. IMO I dont' think driving 80 on a 60 isn't safe, it is just against the HTA. Like seriously, does speed = safety? Then we might as well just walk and be "safe". Even people who drive at speed limit can drive wrecklessly. (I"m sure all of you ppl who do drive has gone over the speed limit).

Tell that to the numerous people that have lost their families due to drunk driving.

i just hate seeing street racers on the street around. I mean driving fast is ok on reasonable roads but don't go racing with another car. I can stand people doing 160+ km/h on hwy but as long as you are not all mod up and racing each others, its ok. If you want to race, go on track, they are CHEAP in north american. Seriously! And I hate people that completely over speed on non hwy roads. Like roads that are 60 km/h limits and they do 130km/h. thats just stupid.

Man I have seen like basically very little street racers racing like Fast and the Furious on the roads I go to each day. Geez I see middle aged people, normal people, driving like jackasses each day. These people should be called street racers because they drive like there is no tommorow in a hurry. These folks in Brampton and Toronto do like 110KMH in a 70KMH zone...
I'm really wanted to see street racers on the road, because I have seen few. I see normal people driving like idiots causing accidents everyday....

That was well worth my time watching. Hah.
But anyway, driving at 160km/hr? One time there was this guy who was clocking in 160km/hr since my instructor was at around 110km/hr and he caught a glimpse of the guy holding a Tim Horton's coffee in one hand and his cell talking on another. He was steering the wheel with his knees.

Lol no idiot... The point Im trying to make is that the media tries to sensationalize street racing as if it is the bane of our society today. Meanwhile, there are so many more issues where more people are dying but aren't getting the focus as street racing. Thats why you get ridiculous laws proposed by the Harper government (remember the summer) that targets any individuals who modify their cars in a sporty manner.

How did you clock that guy driving at 160km/h? Did you have a radar gun on hand? When the other car was faster than your instructor's car, do you automatically add 50km/h on top of that?

Since you said cut off, that means he would need to hit the brake. In that case, it is not a safe pass. If it is a 'safe cut', it is not a cut.
If you pass another car and the other driver needs to hit his brake, it is not a safe pass. If he does not need to hit his brake, it is not a cut.

Seriously, people need to take driving less personally and racing should be kept to the tracks.
Lately around 3-4am I've been hearing really loud cars racing frequently on a main road few streets down, can't wait until these idiots crash and kill themselves and go to hell with their fart cans.

Street racing is a problem and it is wrong etc etc. but what sucks and doesn't help stop it, is how they try to blame it all on the younger drivers with the imports.
I drive an integra, lowered etc. etc. and with the driving record i have, i tend to take it easy these days, but it's unbelievable how many people assume you're a 'street racer' just by looking at your car, even though you're doing the same speed as them.
yeah i've had my share of go's in the streets, but interesting enough, most of them are with much older drivers who tend to be the challengers

Drive to work in morning rush hour on Deerfoot highway and you'll truly see who the street racers are. If you see a dude in silver Prelude, wave and say hi  But really, I see more normal people driving w/o regards to their surroundings and causing danger to everybody around them more than anything else.

It's not safe at all, but it's not difficult to do at all. Some people can do proper left turns at traffic lights with their knees. They're practicing, you know, for when they have to amputate an arm.

Like I have said all along. I see more normal people you can say "street racing", because they are racing to go to work. And I see accidents happen because of this.
Recently near where I live there was this 3 car accident. This is a place I am like "HOW TO HECK" do you get in an accident because its only 2 lanes each direction, and a stop light so people can get in the neighbourhood.
I pass by, see no street racers involved. All I see was a Dodge Dokota, Dodge Magnum, and another car which I think was an import.
This is where we get more accidents, from NORMAL FOLK STREET RACING, always in a hurry to catch a red light, and in a hurry to get home. Its not like someones dying, just lay off and drive normal, dont need to be going 120KM in a 80KM zone.
