Hi everyone,

I'm new here (although I do browse the forum from time to time) and this is my first post.

I'm looking to buy a 2006 Honda Civic EX sedan (manual) and I was wondering what the best time to buy was in order to get a good deal. Ideally, I was thinking just before the 2007 models were released and I've heard buying at the end of September or the end of October is the best to buy. In the case of the Civic, anyone know if I should aim for the end of September or the end of October? Thanks in advance.

Nick

I don't think there's a best time to buy that car. It wasn't apart of the Honda Clearance event, as they're selling them out regardless!

usually new year like around jan 1 is a good time. sales are slow because everyone is in debt after xmas.

i know i'm usually in heavy debt then so the last thing on my mind is spending 15K on a honda civic!

Thanks everyone - your advice is really appreciated. I know it's there's little reason for Honda to put incentive offers to clear out 06 models since the car is selling well. If I were to make a purchase more recently, would it make any difference if I purchased at the end of this month or the end of October? Thanks again.

The end of September or October should be a good time. Make sure you spend time looking at other cars so you look undecided to the dealer, because if the dealer knows you really want a certain car you will lose on deals.

I was recently shopping for a 06 Accord SE and last time I checked there were 5 in Ontario (not including demos). The lower end 2006 accords and civics sell fast especially since they offer this gas card and 1.9% financing.

FYI, the interest rate for 07 Civic for leasing is something like 8.35%!!! Financing is 7+%.
That being said, I think now is the best time to get a 06 Civic before they are gone, as I'm sure a lot of people will be buying that, since the interest rate for the 07 is CRAZY!!!!
So get it while you can, or else you will have to wait till next Feb at the earliest to get a good deal on the 2007 Civic. If you are buying the car with cash, then I don't think it would matter as much.

The best time to buy a car date wise, is at the end of (within a day or two) of each month and even better at the end month of a quarter (March, June etc). This is because of the way dealerships and sales people earn their living.
A dealership has to pay interest to the OEM for the cars on his lot at the end of every month and it costs him money to have the car sitting there. A sales rep has to either make a quota or sales target to earn his/her commision and bonuses.
A hot car on the market (and any new model year) may not get you any money off because the OEM will regulate the prices for them but, you may be able to squeeze those extras from them. Things like options, mats, rustproofing etc.
