what do they mean by tissues around the eyes become inflamed and swollen?
tissues = skin, bags underneath the eyes???
thanks for any help
If you are in real dire need of an answer, you can always call Telehealth Ontario (http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/public/program/telehealth/telehealth_mn.html) and speak to one of the nurses: 1-866-797-0000

you really need to see a doctor if its you or do some research online
its not uncommon and not real serious, controlled by medication
wife and one daughter have hypo, hereditary and usually brought on at puberty or pregnancy
most obvious signs have been metabolic changes, too much sleeping etc.

Do you *think* you have hyperthyroidism (because you've been searching the internet)? If you are serious about it, go see a doctor or call TeleHealth Ontario, as someone already suggested. Plus, if you really want some constructive feedback from this forum, you should be more specific in the type of advice you are seeking.
In terms of swelling of tissues around the eye, it mostly refers to the muscles in the orbit which causes the eyes to bulge out. Search the web and you'll find pictures. You might want to search using 'exophthalmos'.

A real doctor would not give medical advice without seeing you first. As they may face legal repercussions.
