Looks like a good deal, but I've had an unfavourable experience with a Telus refurb as well. Thanks.

is this deal nationwide?

refurbish really depends on your luck, i personally have no problem with it and with 90 days warranty it cant go that bad.

Funny, my brother bought a BRAND NEW unit of the same model A540, but quickly noticed it wouldn't hold a charge. After several long debates/lectures given to me about me not charging the phone long enough during the first few times--the dealer finally agreed and gave me a new phone. But then, I've read this phone has been a very problematic phone.

I owned this phone before in 2002-2003. I loaded it with various apps and games using Bitpim without a problem. I forget and have lost all the drivers and cables for it. I then traded it in for a LG 5450 and traded that in for the Motorola v710.

Staples had the LG 5450 there also for $20 more ($59.99). That one has Speakerphone and a colour inside screen.

This phone is for my Fiancee and she has never owned a cell phone before. It's a good starter phone. I also bought the Staples 2 year REPLACEMENT plan for $6.99 if any of the problems mentioned above occur.

With a mobile item I always get the plan. I have only paid for one phone in my seven years with Telus (Mind you I bought a used Audiovox 6600 PPC phone off a fellow RFD'er recently).
I bought my first Telus phone from FS with the warranty. If you can find away to wreck the phone, you get a new one as they do not fix them. I can not remember the phone I bought, but after that phone I got the Samsung A540, then LG 5450, and finally the Motorola v710. I never paid to upgrade them either. The plan cost me $50 back in 2000 and I paid $30 to extended in 2003 and it was well worth it.
So $6.99 for a REPLACEMENT plan not a SERVICE plan...new phone in two years.
