huh...what do you mean by more cables?
Can't you just use your HDMI cable?
Optical is for carrying sound, good for use with a receiver, pretty useless with crappy TV speakers, if you have optical in
Coax should be fine though, also digital, save youself money and use a decent RCA cable, doesn't matter if it's was meant for composite video or audio (yellow, red, black/white)
Btw, I think any cheap HDMI cable should do the job, BB sell the a Prima branded one for like 30$
Remember HDMI carry digital signal which is less prone to interference, so you don't need gold plater, pure copper wires, oxygen free, super duper extra shielding crap
All marketing BS IMO

Zellers has on sale some cables still (can't believe i missed out on those crazy TV and home theatre clearance prices!! Argh!!!). I saw yesterday they had the HDMI 12' Pure AV by Belkin cables for $40 (regular $60) and 6' ones for $30. Gold plated i think. They also carry Philips brand and a premium one (both gold plated) but not on sale ($60-$70 for the 12' one).
Is $40 a good price for that brand? I wonder if i should buy them while they're still on sale before i get my TV this christmas? (likely a 32-40" Samsung)

i have a PS 2 and a normal DVD player, was wondering if there's anything I can do to make full use of my hdtv? I just ordered a HDTV connector cable for the PS2. I don't yet have a home theatre set but I'm hoping to get one on Boxing day.

There's only one answer here: http://www.monoprice.com
Buying anywhere else is just insane. Insane I tell you! First of all the quality of their cables is top notch, and second of all for digital connections it doesn't really make much difference anyway.
Even if I just had to buy one cable, I would get it shipped from monoprice cause it will almost definitely still be cheaper. As soon as you start ordering multiple cables, it gets orders of magnitude cheaper.

Princess Auto and XS Cargo have these for under $25.
Them and Monoprice are the only places I'd buy cables from anymore.

I'd vouch for monoprice as well. I bought a few cables from them, HDMI, DVI, and Coax Digital. All shipped to Vancouver in about 10 days. Even after shipping the costs were cheaper than anywhere else locally.
I didn't pay any duty either...but I hear this is hit and miss. Depending whether Canada Customs checks it.

They marked mine as a gift, even though the total price was under $15.

I've used mycableshop.com before to buy N-type connectors and they are pretty good too. HDMI cables seem pretty cheap too..10 ft for $13.67
