Just ate at Red Lobster, and noticed this on my duplicate receipt:

If you take a touch-tone phone customer satisfaction survey (1-888-624-8705) for Red Lobster within 48 hours of eating there last, you will get a four-digit alphanumeric code which, along with the receipt you have, can be used as a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert on your next visit. My receipt gives an expiry of Sep 23rd 2003 on this offer, but YMMV.

The survey was about 5 minutes of punching buttons. It is fully automated, so you can call any time.

Requirements:
- your receipt. So you have to eat there first. Or get one from someone who ate there in the past 2 days.
- The receipt has a 12 digit ID number that the phone survey will authenticate, to make sure you have a receipt.
- Special 4-digit code is only given if the survey is fully completed. - Must call within 48 hours. I assume the 12 digit ID expires after that.

I just noticed: you can also get the free appetizer or dessert for 2 if you join their "Overboard Club" and agree to answer a second page of demographic questions along with your contact info.

Sign up here:

The questions are slightly odd (who is my favourite talk show host?!), but harmless. Unless they're peeing in the platters of the Oprah fans, .

Once completed, they give you a chance of printing a coupon. All the coupons are a mix of text and images, and have your name and some serial codes on them, so they are unique. You only get one chance to view the coupon, so you may want to make sure your printer works or make a screen capture ("Print Scrn" key).

Red Lobster (http://www.redlobster.com/overboard/default.asp)

The sign up asked for a province and postal code so I assume it will work in Canada as well.
