I played BF2 first and got CS source later. Both of them are great garmes. Iv'e been spending all my time on Gun Game for CS source lately but am starting to get bored with it. Thinking about reinstalling BF2 and just wondering if I should bother getting the SF expansion pack. Anyone using it or is it still buggy?

I am sure 2142 is like most EA games. They are huge piles of bug filled crap for the first 6 months while we finish their beta testing for them but after a few patches they tend to be some of my favourite games.
I have reached the point where I no longer buy an EA game until it's been out for at least a few months because of all the crap that is associated with every one of their new releases.

I haven't played BF2 yet, but I've been playing 2142 since shortly after release.

There are some bug issues for some players, but I find gameplay is very good.

The Titan mode adds a lot of variety - it's not just the same old fighting over control points over and over again while the tickets count down.

For me it has been well worth the $50 or so I paid.

$20 Definetly seems like the regular price now, but it's a very very good game. Just a quick note though, the expansion to BF2 is okay but not great. So if you're thinking about spending the extra money for the expansion, u might want to hold off for a bit.

Ya EA games are buggy, but BF2 wasn't that bad, and I agree with people that BF2 was a good game.

It's a great game, I like it more than counter strike: source, because all your stats are constantly being updated.

Does anyone know if we can get the dvd version somewhere, I have the cd one, but five disks is a hassle to install.

bf2142 is pretty good
with the current patch (1.06) they have most the major issue worked out... they just need to tweak game play a bit now.

I personally like it a bit better than bf2, although it seems quite similar to me. It was only $20 too (no tax either :) )... ea employee discount ftw :razz:

hmmm... don't know how you got it for $20 with no tax at ea, since employees still get taxed since it's considered a taxable benefit. And yes that's how I got my copy too, through ea, and I have the receipt that shows you still get taxed even if you have the employee discount.

Hey !!!.... quick thought... how about taking the ad over to walmart and see if you can get them to do this on the Battlefield Deluxe Edition... might work since the marking stating its the ultimate is small enough on the box..

lol, I got a cd-key from ebay for $15 in July/August. Then I just downloaded a game image to install then used a crack so i don't need the disks to play, i just mount a image using a virtual drive and play. :D

P.S. and as for special forces, I think it sucks. There are no maps that have jets in them, and the maps are all so depressing and dull.

Can't go wrong with BF2 for $20.

To be honest, I HATED the game when I first played the demo. It was frustrating at first. Then my friend convinced me to buy it and squad up with him and another guy. WOW. I have about 500 hours into the game now and its incredible. There are so many dimensions to the game when you get active in team play. I played 2142 on my friends system and I didn't like it as much as BF2.

nope gota disagree. bf2 went the way of bf vietnam. Didn't live up to the hype. theirs still more people playing the original bf especially with DC. EA had a novel idea with the bf series killed it with hiring argueably the worst software engine writers alive. hey what about quake wars when is it out, damm way back when I read up on it it sure sounded like a winner.

You can easily download a demo of 2142... lots of people don't like it, including me, i'll stick to bf2 which is pretty sweet.

There was link to a heap of full and demo games there. It lead me to BF2142, which I subsequently purchased. It is my first multiplayer and since v1.06, I have been hooked.

Might suck down the BF2 demo now people have rated it...not sure if it is worth buying though even at 20$ if it as similar to 2142 as has been suggested.

Got this and played it for a week or so. How do you snipe in this game? Everything seems random. Sometimes the bullet dips, other times it doesn't. Sometimes leading the target works, sometimes it doesn't despite it being the same distance. Going prone doesn't change that either. It's really aggravating after having played something like DOD.

Bought it last year because my gaming clan was going in that direction. Played it once and shelved it. Still play BF1942 on our clan server, though we have servers for BF2 and BF2142 as well.
