I've got the 520... it's not a bad remote at all, i think the 550 buttons are a little bit better.

It's $99 at Dell.ca, but it's always a hit or miss if you can get FS to PM

Buy the remote first, go home, open it, and then return a few hours later and say you saw it cheaper online. They'll be much more motivated to PM you than have to accept an open return. And if they don't PM, then get your money back.

I saw this (the 520 that is) at Zellers last night for $99. Don't know if it's nation wide (I live in the sticks in N. Ontario) but there was a special big red tag on it, something like "Winter savings event" or similar type seasonal wording...

It'd be better, and less headache to order it @ staples and use the recently posted $10 off $100 coupon.

The 550 comes in a darker color, replaces the Mute & Previous buttons with Page Up/Down. Adds & Moves the Mute/Previous buttons below the Volume & Channel buttons. Also adds the Picture, Sound, A, B buttons in an extra row below the keypad. Keys are softer (like the 676) and a tad shallower compared to the 520.
+ "only available at retail stores" no factorydirect in my town.

Just saw it in todays flyer for $119.95 with a $30 Easy Rebate. Throw in the $10 off $100 and it should now be 79.95 + tax

the staples downtown has the rabate for the 550(119$) 30$ instant rebate plus 30$ mail in rebate so its down to 89.95$ for the remote.

plsu the coupon would be 79.95+tax

This won't work with a PVR video recorder from Express Vu, will it? {It isn't an infrared, the one we need; we need the one you just point and click at the ExpressVu box.} If it does work for that, I'm all over it! Thanks, if anyone knows, and thanks, OP!

Dell had 880 last July for $129.00 plus Free Shipping. :D
I would suggest just wait, sale on 880 will come back. I think...:?:
550 is an older model and if I'm not wrong, it has problems with the battery that needs charging quite often since it doesn't have auto-sleep when it's not in use.... or is it the problem in 520 model?

The 550 is the updated 520. I have the 520 and I’m very satisfied with it. I have never had problems with battery life. These remotes have firmware that is updateable and issues such as battery life would likely be addressed through such updates. I use 4 AA Duracell rechargeable batteries and find that they need to be recharged about every 6 months.

I have the 880. Had it for a few years now got it thru dell for $160. KICKASS remote, best one around...if you can hold tight for a bit i am sure they'll have it discounted again (it took over a month to get mine:()

The 520 was on sale for $89.99 in Zellers about 3 weeks ago. The store ran out of it at the time but allowed me to raincheck it. ;)

I feel the 520 is good enough for me, certainly there are enough buttons left over for functions to be mapped during an activity, so a remote with more buttons or special function buttons is an overkill. I think it could use sturdier buttons, though. The one thing that I notice is that my CELabs component port switch is very insensitive to it when it is turned off. I have to point the 520 to its IR receiver to turn it on.

This trick works very well. I just bought one from BB today with $169.
10 min later I went to the Customer Service with the opened box and the Staples flyer. They matched the price 110%.
I got it for $81 – NO MIR, NO Easy Rebate, etc.

I have the 520 great remote, the 550 added some buttons to make useability a bit more. Thats all I can see, not sure what else they added.
