View Full Version : ***COLD*** Staples: Samsung 940BW 19" Wide Screen LCD $219.95
Tazmania
Nov 29th, 2006, 11:18 AM
Staples jacked up the regular price to $269 which makes this deal DEAD Cold. Great for those who got one.
I've been looking for a 19" WS LCD for a while and this is a very good price...even better if you bundle it with a PC or Laptop purchase, there is an additional $30 MIR.

Buford is asking if there is a $30 off coupon instead of $20 off floating around, not about the rebate.
I think he's right, doing a search but can not find it.

Found this from HOT!!! Mio C310 GPS with touch screen $249.92 after coupon @ Staples (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=370214)
It's not $30 off but you could use the $10 off $100 and $20 off $150 buy adding fillers.
just to let you know you can stack both coupons to bring the price down to $239.92

I got the 940BW from CC a couple of months ago and it was $239 then and has not been lower than that on their site.
I also have an Acer 19" widescreen (without DVI) as well. Be honest, I like the Acer a little better for some reason...but really both are very sweet and you really can't go wrong with this price. These 19" 1440x900 displays are the best bang for the buck IMHO.

Is there anything that I can do?? Like wtf? I freaking hate staples now because last time when I went to PM with FS for the ML-2510 printer, the manager was stalling so much freaking time and then said they didn't have any stock. Clearly F-ing BS. Make sure you guys don't ask for a PM right away, go pick up the actual item and PM at the cashwrap.

actually, it appears that the price diff. is a result of the enviro levy charge in AB.
compared to other region's pricing, it's $240, which means they're tacking on an extra $25 for electronic items.
but this is some stupid BS at stooples b/c i believe when you checkout, they add that levy charge *again* ...
all you need to do is use the "PC trick" to change your region to another and you'll get the lower price.

If yes, does someone know if the DVI cable will work with a ATI x850xt platinum (from a dell xps)? I just learned that there is different DVI cables (probably because of different DVI connector types). This is anoying, no wonder I put less and less money in technologies.

The Alberta enviro fee for monitors is $15.
So this doesn't account for the $25 difference.

Hmm...... you must have a really old CRT. If I remember correctly, people stick to CRT because of the color differences in LCD and CRT. CRT produce way better colors and are crucial for photo editing.

That's probably old news (not very old I admit). LCDs have evolved a lot. As a example, last year they were pretty much >10ms. This year it's, <10ms. Quality have increased and prices have droped a lot. I mean 240$ for a good 19" wide screen!

I cannot tell you for the quality but I can tell you for the sizes. I just went from a 19" crt that was in 1150x860. While it's not a big deal and a wide sceeen is cool. I consider that if you don't watch movies in your computer, you should go with the standard size (4:3).

@taile: It's not going to work, well it didn't for me. At the last step of the checkup when you login, it will use the postal code of your login; thus, giving you the OOS msg.

I cannot tell you for the quality but I can tell you for the sizes. I just went from a 19" crt that was in 1150x860. While it's not a big deal and a wide sceeen is cool. I consider that if you don't watch movies in your computer, you should go with the standard size (4:3).
I do watch a lot of movies on my computer so that's half the reason I want a 16:10 monitor, the other half being so I can have windows open beside eachother when I'm coding stuff (I can't do that on a 1024x768 screen.) My original question was more along the lines of panel type and other related specs, if the 205bw and 940bw use the same panel type then there's no reason to drop the extra $100 on an few more pixels (1440x900 vs. 1680x1050.)
I guess this really isn't a thread to go into specific detail, alas I was just curious and looking for input from people who bought the 940bw and had any opinions on it.

For those that got the monitor online, what time did you guys get it or do you know when they restock online?
I've been on the site for a couple of days and no luck.
Thanks!

Thanks for your experence!
What about if I change my postal code in my profile and call in to change it right after I placed my order? Will that work?

does anybody know if one can get the additional $30 mail-in rebate if the PC and monitor are in separate receipts? (The monitor was OOS when I bought the PC)

no, apparently someone called Customer service and the receipt must clearly show the monitor and PC on the same bill.

Anyway stOOpleS will put it on the same receipt??
*Edit
Read the requirements on the rebate form, and it doesn't say anything about computer and monitor has to be on the same receipt. It just states that products have to be purchased between Oct 5, 2006 - Jan 31, 2007.

So how about return the pc and re-purchase with the monitor at the same time?

They should just honour the $30 rebate even if PC and monitor are on different receipts. Less hastle for both parties.

well you could definitely try, only really thing you lose out on is the $30 from the rebate but you still get the monitor for a great price.
Here is the post by someone that called Customer service, take it for what it is worth:

Its still a great price even if we don't get the extra $30 MIR, yes.
But since this is RFD, gotta try to get that extra $30 MIR.
30$ MIR > nothing :cheesygri

I am really debating on either the 205BW or 940BW. Is that $130 really worth the extra bang? Anyone got any saying in this???
Its an inch bigger and got few more pixels. Anyone else know of any difference?
Oh and its 700:1 contrast, 6ms.

hard to say if the $130 is worth the extra inch/more pixel.
In any case, OOS for me again........RFD in full effect !!
