A bit risky don't you think? :)
Thanks OP, just ran out the house when I saw this post (10pm) and grabbed some decent deals. I love RFD :)
2xFuji A400 4mp Cameras $25.44/ea
Creative Webcam $12, regular $70 (VF0250 model i think)
HP Scanner/copier/printer (PSC1400) $9.44, regular $134 (everything included)
They also had some nice big Kodak Camera bags for $2.44, got 4 of those
I also spoted 2 different lexmark scanner/copier/printers for $11 and a cheaper HP for $6 but they didn't come with ink so I passed. One of the girls mentioned that there will be different cameras on tomorrow, they were preparing the tags but I only noticed Kodak 700 something camera maybe?
Pics of today's haul including some stuff from zellers, and the free targus backpack i got from staples a couple months back :)

I went to the Oakville store tonight after seeing this post. They didn't have anything of interest left for me. Well, they had a couple of 128 MB compact flash cards for like $2 each or something but at the time I was thinking "hmm.. what would I do with these"... after I left the store I was thinking ""crap, I should have bought them... I could have used them in my old MP3 player".... anyway.... The girl was saying that the brand for the memory card has gotten a lot of returns (core micro or whatever it is called)

The a700 at that price is just nuts!! I'm jealous:twisted: . I don't understand why they would sell it that cheap as it's a pretty popular cam!! BTW here in montreal superstore doesn't even exist (no idea why)! wich really sucks as I remember they used to have some pretty crazy deals when I was in winnipeg  .

I wonder if there was some sort of software glitch or data entry problem. Maybe somebody somewhere is putting a 20% into the "you pay" box instead of the "you save" box.
It doesn't seem rational to sell at these prices.

So i drove from Richmond Hill they were all still original price....They refused to do a price adjustment or even call any other store...THey claimed they didn't have the number and werent allowed to call long distance....
Anyway I still grabbed 2 A700's...went to the Aurora store and got the price adjusted...If the deal was on at the store I would have grabbed all 3!! Meh what can you do....

Hp Photosmart M417 5.2 MP $32.79
2x Finepix A345 $29.44
2x Canon A410 $29.44
Lexmark X1195 printer/scanner $10.29
The nice lady rang the Finepix and Canon through for $29.44 because they weren't scanning (supposed to be $35.44 and $25.44 respectively, saving an additional $4).
Thanks Joseph and RFD.

Hey eh^ or even Kamloops, I went to the Kamloops RCSS and I didn't see any clearance cameras or anything else you mentioned...are they all gone? Or do you have to get them to scan the cameras in (because they were all tagged as regular price?).

Creative Webcam $12, regular $70 (VF0250 model i think)
I got one of these at the RCSS in Nanaimo, BC. It sucks. It can sometimes provide a good picture with the right lighting. Low light performance sucks and nearby lamp is enough to wash out highlights. Ideally you need uniform subdued lighting. The dynamic range is horrible. I also frequently see blocky artifacts, like from video compression; I guess the video being sent over USB is highly compressed.
This is pretty much what I'd expect from a webcam that sells for $12.44. I was hoping for something more because it's by Creative Labs and the regular price is so high. Before I used an old Intel PC Camera Pro that I got in 2002 and that was way better.

Posted in another thread that my wife went to Superstore on Lougheed in Coquitlam. They had a Surprise Pre-Boxing Day special...the Selphy CP510 Printer and Canon A420 PowerShot, ink and photo paper bundle all for $37!! They went really fast.
Also, went to SuperStore at Metrotown and they had a couple of different 7" Portable DVD players for $49 each...located in the glass cases. No one seemed to pay attention to them. They indicated that this deal would be available again.

Went to the store at Richmond road in Ottawa and picked a new HP M417(5.2MP, 3X optical room, 7X digital room) for $34.xx and the last open box Fuji S3000 for $44.xx. There were still some open box HP M417 left. Didn't see the A700 with $69.xx.
YMMV
I picked up the open box M417 as my nephew wanted a cheap digi cam for Xmas. :) I also got what may have been the last 1GB SD card as well :?:
I also did not see anything of the other models mentioned but there was a Sony DSC-S60 on display but the salesperson thinks that someone has the packaging but will find no camera in their box so it probably should really be pulled off of display I would think...
It was insane over there this morning no doubt though!

Chatham Store had none when I checked this evening, however, I was in Windsor today, they sold the last A700 display to the guy ahead of me, so I hung around believing that there was another box of it underneath, when I overheard an employee tell a fellow employee, that the Sony DSC-S60, normally, $329, on for $219, just rang up for $42.44, so I picked up 3 of those... which luckily, I also got an extra 4 GB memory card for my Sony from the Rogers upgrade deal... So, looks like some family members are getting good deals on digital cameras. I wish I had known about the webcams though, I would like a better one to try out...
Will have to check again tomorrow. Nice gentleman at Chatham store took the portable scanner and checked a bunch of items, almost all the MP3 players are ringing up less than posted, some $10 less and some alot more. The Sandisk 512 MB model was ringing up for $29.44

Might check them out tomorrow morning if that's the case.

Nothing left in Kamloops, Kamloops. I asked about the cameras today and the guy said it started friday, and were all gone by fri afternoon (and the CSR said he picked up a few himself for $20.xx and $30xx).
I was undaunted though, and I ended up picking up the JVC 26" LCD TV (mentioned earlier in the thread); it was the display model though so I got 10% off and added the $30 off coupon.
Total before taxes was $374.xx, which isn't bad for a 26" HDTV ready LCD TV. I will probably get ripped for this because the TV isn't the greatest in terms of inputs (no DVI or VGA) or specs, but I'm using it as a bedroom TV so its not too much of a concern for me.

there were price tags saying A700 was $70, and the fujis were $25/$35, but empty shelves... so were the cheap printers
so either they were bought by employees, or s/b just hoarded all of what was left...
damn, i should've went last nite....

Superstore is currently doing SKU Rationalization, that is removing products that need to be discontinued for the new year. Around 1,300 products will be purged from the store, replaced by either newer product lines, or similar products. I managed to pick up some memory cards, 1 GB USB drives and some camera lens cleaners which were selling for .44cents (reg. 12.89). Checked five Superstores, no camera's left.
This 'deal' started Friday, as such anything decent was gone very very early.

You sound pretty angry about it, when really, it's just semantics, poor consumers don't know better, because most retailers assign a product code (SKU) unique to them, and the bar code is cross referenced. RCSS and the like that don't use it, actually cause themselves some grief I find, because the receipt for instance merely says "PS2 game", and nothing more, other than the price. This caused a problem for me last year when I went to return a game, actually, a problem for the store, because I had several games on one receipt at varying prices and the price tags had been removed from the games, so when I went to return one of them, I got to tell them which one I was returning, which happened to be the most expensive, as the prices had all changed, just after Christmas.

ok here:
They're all gone man. I work at a Loblaws, same deals but within minutes they were all gone, a lot were swipped by employees and customers quickly. I didn't get one cuz i didn't know about it.
I bought an a700 at Loblaws Gatineau this morning. The cashier couldn`t beleive it was so cheap. It was the only one available.
I checked Loblaws at Bayview & Hwy 7 this afternoon (Richmond Hill On) - they have the identical electronics dept to the one found in RCSS. The sales staff told me they put all the marked down cameras out last night and they were gone in a few minutes.
Went to the store at Wasaga Beach today...Guy was an idiot told me they had a bunch of A700 and Fuji ones for prices listed here...
So for the dude in pickering i suggest u buy those cameras and go to another store to have it matched
english is not my native language but I think I understand that Loblaws have the same deals and somebody actually bought 2 A700 at Richmond RCSS and went to Aurora RCSS to do the pricematch am I correct?

Correct me if I'm wrong but Richmond Rd. (in Ottawa) and Richmond Hill are two different places completely. And I also think that the 5 hour drive (approx.) from Ottawa to Aurora for a pricematch kills the deal :D.
I was not saying that Loblaws does or does not have SOME (or the same) deals. I am just saying that it doesn't APPEAR to be consistent with Superstore deals that people are getting here and that price matching between different Loblaws (NOT RCSS stores which you quoted above) may or may not work. That was what you were suggesting I do, no?

Are UPC and SKU the same thing? they just serve to identify product.
It's semantics, really. A UPC is a version of a SKU. Loblaws, internally, doesn't call anything SKU in my experience. They have the UPC and their own internal number, referrred to as the NG Item Number, a 6 digit number unique to all products.

RCSS and the like that don't use it, actually cause themselves some grief I find, because the receipt for instance merely says "PS2 game", and nothing more, other than the price.
They do use it, obviously. It's generally the reduced bins where they will all scan at the same price, as they come directly from the company selling them with the $18.98 sticker on it. This is generally the only situation you will run into IN THE ENTIRE STORE where there will be a generic product description on your receipt, except for when they use the Pink Clearance stickers, as they also have a generic description.

You're right, they absolutely use it, however, on their receipt, there is no number associated with the product, nothing at all, just the description, department number and price. CT uses their 7 digit code, Zellers, uses their UPC or SKU number, walmart too. On the receipt they are identified as numbers and product, whereas RCSS only has a description. It's their demise really, you could go and buy a game for instance that was just reduced, for the new price, and return it with a receipt that simply says PS2 Game, and when the low price comes up when they scan it, claim that you paid the full price. I had something similar happen, I went last year to return a game after Christmas when they had all those 2 for $9.98 deals, and the game was originally $19.98 on my receipt, which is what I paid the week before Christmas, they gave me back the $19.98 price, but there was no way for them to know what I truly paid!

Wait until boxing day, they have some even better deals coming down the pipeline for the 26th.
hm... i somehow have doubts about that...
these various RCSS clearance deals have been insane lately... A700 for $70? 32" TVs for <$200?
i'd doubt RCSS would have similar deals on boxing day, let alone "better deals"....
course, hope i'm wrong :cheesygri

Can you explain more in detail? Are you saying that the person issuing the refund did not ask for a receipt? I would think that they are refunding whatever you paid on the receipt?

That's what I am saying I did have the receipt for a game for $19.98, and the game was now selling for $4.98. However, all the receipt says is PS2 game, and the price, not which game or a sku or product number, so when they scan the game and the wrong price came up, I explained that I bought it before the sale and they gave me the full price back!

I went into the Kamloops store tonight and started looking around. I asked the guy working there if there were any more cameras on sale. He knew what i was talking about and said no they were all gone. He told me he bought the last Fuji a400 for 25.44.
I asked if there was any other good deals and he said it was all gone.
I looked in the display case and saw a Sony DSC S40. I knew that someone had got the S60 for 44.XX from the other thread so I asked him to scan it. It was marked 159.44 Clearance. He looked shocked when it scanned at $31.44
Of course I bought it. I started looking around more and he scanned some other things for me but no great deals. Then at the back of all the Samsung cameras I saw a box that said Sony on it that looked stashed away. I asked him to pull it out and scan it - Sony HandyCam Mini DV DCR-HC21 It scanned at 109.44!
I bought it as well. Great score. Thanks to the OP on this one!

He said he bought it for his brother for a Xmas gift. Really nice guy. They are pretty relaxed in there and were having just as much fun as I was.
They had another a400 on display with no box but they had a a600 box so he was going to sell me the a400 in the a600 box with the accessories but when he scanned the box it came out at 189.98! He could not understand why it came out so high. Said the sale must have ended. But the two things I bought were still on sale. Who knows?

I guess I am too late on this again! I missed the Zellers camera clearance and hopefully not this one :)
Does anyone know any Loblaws or RCSS (in GTA or York Region) that still has the Canon A700 on sale? I really appreciate it, thanks!
On a side note, would RCSS PM their own clearance deals? For example, if I buy find a Canon A700 in a RCSS store at regular price, would they PM it for $69.44?

Got back a while ago from various RCSS in Lower Mainland. But some of the details are a little hazy.
Guildford or Coquitlam (can't remember which one) - There was a demo box sitting behind the counter for the Sony DSCS40. Didn't even ask about it, but it was there. Question is, was the camera still around? Someone else can check. Lots of camera accessories still available at both locations. Most of these items didn't have discounted price tags.
.44c Optek digital lens pen (LP10) (reg. $14.98?)
.44c Optek neoprene wrist strap (WSTRAPN) (reg. $9.98?)
$12.44 Sandisk Cruzer Mini 512MB (reg. ?)
$6.44-$8.44 Pelican waterproof micro cases (reg. $14.98-$16.98) *varying
prices on differnet colors. I'm sure someone could get a freebie here*
$12.44 Creative Live!CamNotebook Pro (reg.$64.98?) *Guildford Only*
$4.44 Giotto tripod (RT8220) (reg. $29.98) *Guildford Only*
$79.98 Electrome 10" Portable DVD (PDV10E10) (reg. $249.98?) *Display only.
It has sticker residue on the screen. Maybe you can get a deeper
discount.
Likely other stuff too, but not stuff I found...A keen eye could still pick out heaps of goodies.

There's a point when profiteering precludes ability for others to share in fortune and fun of deals. This leaves a bitter taste for people.

If you had "the love" for who you were buying for other than yourself, you'd pay whatever they asked!!
After all, isn't that what Christmas is all about? Sharing and giving happiness? Just think how happy you'd make the seller!!! :D :cheesygri
Seriously, this is the depressing part of human nature. We all preach "holiday spirit" and "sharing" and "cheer" but it's not really practiced. All I gotta say is...check out a busy shopping mall parking lot for some real fun stuff. ;) True spirit.

I have to admit that I picked up 3 of the Sony digital cameras, one for me, one for a gift for my mother and the 3rd to sell at a reasonable price, so the other 2 were free basically. There were still some left and the employee even asked me, don't you want to get all of them. Then a nice couple came up behind me and I said, they want them and sure enough they bought the other, one for them and one for their kids. Buying every one in site, simply because you can, wasn't the point of sharing deals on RFD, it was to point out deals to fellow consumers. Well, there is no use in pointing out the deal you got, if you bought everything up and it is no longer a deal for anyone else!

Please post the SKU on the receipt. I went to the store and found one but when the cashier scanned it, it registered and a UPC not in their system. They have it on hold for me until they call head office and get the UPC. If I walk in with the UPC number, they should be able to punch it in and it'll show the S40 at the lower price and I could get it rather than wait for them to confirm and have it conveniently "go missing" to an employee.

======================
I think it's really ridiculous today,I printed out this price list. I request buy 4,they said we limited quatity to 3.ok fine.buy 3.
they ask manager go to store, and let me leave the store right away.because I print out that price list.for that price list,I can easily find what I'm looking for.
it's really ridiculous.the manager said he had rights to ask anybody leave my store and ban anybody.
I think it's not a good reason.because their price tag showed up this S60 for 218.XX,something like that. I think they don;t want to lose the money.I printed out the price list, I was not doing anything wrong.
thanks for the OP and another RFDER's who made this list.

Here is a list I compiled from all the RCSS threads right now.
FYI - In BC, Langley, Surrey, Coquitlam (both stores), Pitt Meadows, Mission, Abbotsford, & Chilliwack are all out of everything on this list - I should know, I cleaned all these stores out today... My house looks like a electronics store (my neighbours must think I stole it all!!)
I managed to snag: 1xFuji A840, 2 x Fuji E500, 2 x Fuji A600, 10x HP M415, 12 .44c Camera pouches, 3 x Lexmark 1195 printers, 4 x Curtis $10 DVD players, 3 x Pioneer DVD Recorders, 1 x Citizen 7' Portable DVD player, 6 x Creative Web cams, 6x i river mp3 players, 6 x camera bags ($2-4), creative speakers $8, 6 x pelican water proof cases, and more I can't remember
Anyway, here is the list and good luck to others not in the areas of these stores.
appreciate posting the list, but holy ***** you hoarded "everything" :X

Just came back from a Superstore in Calgary (Westhills), and they have quite a few of the previously mentioned cameras in the display case with the regular price tags. So I asked the cashier to scan one of them for me, she knew right away what I was after and told me that the sale prices were to clear out the old models and that the ones in the display case are a new shipment and are regular price, so it looks like this was a very limited time clearance sale.
Oh yeah, she also mentioned that staff bought most of the cameras.

Oh, and all stores usually keep the boxes for items that are on display. If the staff tell you otherwise, ask for a hefty discount on a clearance item.
The DVD recorder I picked up had some dust and fingerprints on it but the manuals remote and discs were brand new in the display box that was in there top stock. I found it after the staff told me they throw them all away.

Checked the Grandview location in Vancouver, and also asked 3 different sales people. No luck though... even on some items I saw (ex: ipod speakers, Toshiba DVD Player), they still scanned in at "regular" price.
Strange, I wonder why it seems like different locations don't always have these specials.
I also heard one of the sales people talk about a digital camera (I didn't catch which model they were talking about), that scanned in at $50, but they changed the price back to the "regular" price, as they said there was no way they would sell if for $50.

Marine Drive has nothing left. When I picked up my A610, I asked for 1. The other people behind me were like, "I want 3!", "I want 4!" There were only 2. Myself and another guy that was there for 2 hours verbally wrestling the CSR.

Every store told me they throw away the boxes. I would look between the spaces in the covers for the storage areas above the displays that ring the electronics departments and find the boxes in 30 seconds or less.
Then I would tell the staff I found the box and I want them to get it for me. They act like asses, I get responses like 'its not my job, I don't have a ladder, Its too dusty, etc. So I ask them to get the store manager so he can get them, and that's when they move their asses and grab a ladder.
After today most of the superstore electronics department employees look like lazy overpaid rude unionized workers in my opinion. There were some exceptions, but most were losers. Have fun at your crappy job.

alot of time thought they won't do a rescan. Like i went to RCSS on saturday midmorning, and at night... and they said that the prices were as marked. I asked the cashier very polietly to do a rescan.... and she straight out said no. I then went on sunday and tired my luck again. This time i tried a time that wasn't so busy... the girl was behind the cash. I asked her to do a scan on one of the cameras and she refused me again... Then my sister told me that when i turned my back she was scanning a few of the cameras.
I was so desperate I drove about an hour for another superstore.. but they barely had any camera's left. too bad... i guess my luck.... :(

i work at in the photolab/electronics in a RCSS. lol we had quite a nice volume of calls with people who had a list ready to hammer me with whats left. I thought nothing was left because i checked. Till i had a hardcore RFD'er who came and actually found the Canon A700 and 2x hp printers for $15 each. >.< Well i guess i haven't checked hard enough but whats funny is there were 2 other RFD'ers in with a list also scanning the area hard! None the less this weekend was very crazy with the no tax. I expect boxing day to be just as crazy.

I thought I found an A700, but it ended up being an empty box  The upc on the box did still scan at $69.44
Someone must have taken the camera, and not the rest of the stuff. For $69, still not a bad deal I guess.
Gonna go check a couple places tomorrow that I have a "hunch." :cheesygri
The HP Photosmart M417 comes with Energizer Lithium E2 batteries which are worth $12+tax on their own!

Just wanted to drop by and mention that the employees in the electronics section(except for one individual who happened to be the best-looking female of the lot) were very impolite and flat out refused to scan even 1 item I asked for. I still see no reason for them to be so rude . This one male employee shook his head and then started walking away before I even finished my sentence....... I even had the courtesy to say "Thanks anyways" as he headed back to what he was doing before.

Regardless, your job is to assist customers. If you can't do that with courtesy, it's time to find a new job. You ARE paid to do that.

RCSS @ Highland Hills the staff took everything.

Waterloo has no Electronic locations.
You can try Cambridge but I'm sure that when the staff caught word they bought the "good stuff".

... you guys are totally right about taking the item to the purchase counter. Its just I would of felt really bad for not buying it then. I know, I know... please don't comment about that!!!!! People call me stupid, but I'm just a sweet girl!!
I just feel bad because of the extent i went to ... to try to get this deal. drove such a distant... and on sat night it was a zoo at superstore. After no deals in the electonic dep i went to the produce dept.. and some kid stuck gum in my hair... :( talk about bad luck!!! i tell you, I don't know how you guys do it... even w/ the zellers deal!!!... that's called talent!!!
Anyways, I checked back this morning and they didn't have the cameras that are listed at the beginning of the post. Do you guys think i should try w/ just any camera??? And if so which one should I try my luck with, because I can 'change my mind' once before they catch on.
thanks alot guys!!
Yeah, I feel pretty cheap taking something to the till and then not buying it, so I try to avoid it any way I can, but at the same time it's not like anyone there is going to recognize me or care what I do (probably the same for you). Getting gum stuck in the hair sucks, but saying to hell with it all and giving up can really put a downer on your day; if you got a camera it probably would've put a smile on your face and made it all worth it :)
As for the cameras, they're mostly the older ones that are being cleared out; if you see a box that's dusty or older looking than everything else, or a demo camera that looks like it's the only one left - those would be good places to start. I would suggest finding another electronics staff member to ask if you can check some prices (that first one you talked to sounded kinda selfish & mean... not everyone is going to be like that) - if they don't cooperate, look for older boxes - ones with dust on them, look a little beaten up, have clearance tags (even if for a higher price), etc.
Of course, if you know older models from newer ones, then you can use that knowledge to find some cheap ones.
Good luck & happy hunting! :D

If anyone is still interested in the grey/silver canon a430 for 129.99 they still had one at RCSS on Richmond in Ottawa. The clerk was nice enough to scan it for me even though he thought it should be the same price as the blue (from another post). I didn't take it because this was yesterday and I missed the no tax or the better Canon for $70. I should be reading this newsgroup and acting a lot faster!

I believe they have lots of this at RCSS Kanata. They did when I went by, no one was really buying them. No price tag on them, I only had them scan the grey one but the blue didn't have a price tag so it should scan at 129 as well. Got it during the no tax sale. I'm happy with it (not for me anyways).

There are 4 different Upc Bar Codes on the box of the Sony DCR-hc21 that I got and they scanned one of them?
Here they are:

Okay, with all of this talk about us the consumers and what we are doing right, I honestly think that we should say some of the positive experiences we have had at RCSS. For starters, the Chatham store has been absolutely wonderful, only got a little attitude and I mean very little from one employee, that as I was walking to the till with a camera bundle to have the price checked, she yelled to me, that "Yes, it's the price on the sign, no lower". Other than that, each time I was there, they would offer to grab the gun and scan any and all items that I want. And they never hide prices, they always show me the screen. In fact one woman, as I have said, always greets me and says "see you tomorrow". What do they care, it is not their money, they are not on commission, they are there to do their job and if they sell one camera, or 25, their day ends the same and they go home. Even for a store manager to invest that much concern, and deny the sales is ridiculous. They don't set the prices, the head office does, so it's not his fault that cameras are selling for nearly 10% of the original price!

Actually, I found the two guys at the St Albert store to be top notch, shouts out to them if they ever read this. Another female staff member was a bit pissed when I started pointing out the clearance cameras and bought a couple, but then said to her, get that one and that one, they should ring up as XX.XX, and she was nice after that.
The two things I hate is when they get upset because they feel entitled to the deals before customers and we find them first, and when they are just plain lazy, such as not getting demo boxes that they know damn well where they are.

Sony's DCRHC21 MiniDV HandycamŽ Camcorder with 2.5” Touch Panel LCD
DCRHC21 Price $549.99*
I paid 109.44 at Superstore which is 80% less than http://www.sonystyle.ca
