well if one is only going there to pickup some CDRs that one is pretty stupid to be frank; (considering with the jacked up gas prices recently)
what i mean is why do we have to bother DD for such a tiny thing? one can go buy something else; like the ritek 50pcs for $10 each;
also i don't think all ppl care about quality? like those philips dvds from fs last christmas, they were selling $10 for 50pcs 16x's and ppl were swamping thru it when the doors open...all of the stocks were gone in 3 hrs...and DD can't really help because he can advice when he knows about the media code and/or testing them out himself

But the Philips turned out to be not-so-bad stuff after all, just not *VERY WELL SUPPORTED* for all drives. They burn fine on my old LG burner at 8x (my burner is only 8x =( )

No offense but if you offered me a good deal on a piece of doggie poop at 15 cents ... I wouldn't take your offer (even if it was a good deal :cheesygri )
I've got enough media to last me quite awhile so I can afford to be choosy.
I'm not going to jump on some deal until I know what the score is. Just because it's "gold" doesn't make it good media. Who's the manufacturer? What factory? What's the atip code? Is it reliable and to what degree?
If I wanted to buy cheap, throwaway media that I can just give to friends etc ... I still don't want stuff to crap out on them and not be readable in 3 months. That defeats the whole purpose in my view.
Finally, tDD loves this kind of thing ... he'd take time off vacation to give his opinion about media, right tDD? :)

but DD might not know who's the manf, from which factory, or the atip code if he have never tested these before?!

True ... maybe he has or hasn't. For sure he knows more about this stuff than I do, especially from the manufacturing and brand perspective, and that's why i'm always interested to hear what tDD has to say.
This media could be a good OEM product that the manufacturer has put their own house label on it. I've never heard of Ativa "brand" before. That's possible.
Or it could be crap using the word "gold" to sell a product being nothing but marketing. Not sure.

well is definitely OEM;
2nd of all, the 'gold' is because they have this 'gold-color' on these discs compared to those silver/silver discs; the gold is probably marketing scheme, and i never find it any better quality anyway; is just a gold color layer pressed over the silver surface...was maxell every good with their gold top = no ><"

Honestly, I'm far more interested in the media itself than actually buying it.
Thanks for posting the deal though.

Sorry, I guess the prediction was correct :razz:
Anyways, I get the impression that this media is "fools gold" meaning it has a gold appearence on the top of the disc, but no actual gold IN the media. Really only 2 manufacturers make real gold CD-Rs right now. MAM-A and MPO, and neither of these are likely suppliers for this brand I don't think... also the price of the gold used in CD-R media ALONE is more then the deal price of that spindle. (meaning if there WAS gold in the CD-Rs, and if you could find a way to "harvest" it, you could make some money :P).
So I don't expect it was a really great deal.
