BB has this at $3,299 online (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926HDS0010079166&catid=24558) and $2,999 in store with a 36-month interest-free payment plan. FS has the same TV for $2,799 until Dec. 31st online (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0770HDS0010079166&catid=). PM gives $2,779 if PMd with in-store, and $2,729 when online. Considering the retail is about $3,299, it seems like a fairly decent deal (esp if you use the 36mo pmt plan); this is a 1080p TV, and is _significantly_ better than the almost-identically-called Bravia 40" KDL40S2010.

From what I'm seeing after shopping around for a while, this is a pretty good price for a good quality 1080p TV.

In todays's toronto Star, 2001 Audio Video has this TV for the same price of $2799. Having 2 stores with the same price indicates to me, you might be able to bargain for a lower price.

That's pretty good. Sadly, in Montreal, we don't have anybody else offering it for anything close to the same price, and it lists for $3,299 on SonyStyle...

Although I'm certain difficult to find in stock, you can buy the Sharp 42" 1080P set for $2699.99 and thats at full retail. That price you can barter with. I have no idea where people get the notiont hat when 2 stores drop their pants on prices that one will go lower than the other. Work from retail price and expect better deals from there. You could grab that Sharp for $2499.99, and it's a far superior TV to the Sony.

I got the sharp 42D62U for $2299 plus taxes from FS but returned it and got the SAMSUNG LNS4095 for $2338 plus taxes from BB.

the sharp is a great TV if you do not need any viewing angles other that directly in front of the TV.

as you move even a little to the left in terms of viewing angle you immediately start to lose color and the color turns yellow.

before you but this TV please do yourself a favor and go see it.
Do not take the viewing angle of the 46 inch version of this tv since there is no viewing angle issues but banding issues.

SD quality pic via HDMI on the sharp is prolly the best i have ever seen and HD pic is also very very good but i need a bigger viewing angle than directly in front of it so i returned it.

You do realize you could get the 4092 at FS for $2199.99 with a free upconverting DVD right now?

Those FS guys are just hungry for sales (commission actually). You could negotiate a decent price with your negotiation skills. Moreover, if you are using the Store card for deferred payments, you could also persue them a little into waving the administration fees and further ask them to throw in a free delivery. My friend did this when he bought his T.V. and it absolutely worked for him.

For that matter, even Sony Store negotiates and also throws in a lot of goodies, if you could somehow give them a feeling that you are really getting an equally good deal elsewhere.

Try it out! It has worked for others!! It might for you as well!!! who knows?

At the end of the day you might have to hear a no. But that's OK, you have atleast tried than not giving it a shot at all. However, if it works, you might end-up saving another $200-500 or even more, depending on your situation. Believe me! And yes, possibly go with your family (wife or even kids). It makes a very positive impact on the sales person in context of you being really commited about buying the product.

Also, remember, control your temptations and just walk out incase you get a feeling that the sales person will fall for the price you are expecting, without giving in at all. There's always another store in the chain after all ;)

Happy shopping and Happy Holidays!

Good Luck negotiating!!

I work in a store, and to some extent of course this is correct. All I ask is people use common sense. You people do realize thigns have costs right? And if you think these electronics stores are operating at insane margins you are sorley mistaken. Some of the packages being discussed on here are running at 5-10% margin. Sure there are accessories and things like warranty that increase those margins, and if you buy them you are likely to get something in your favour. But when a store runs at low margins like that and you go in expecting 10% off the price when it's already on sale for a crazy deal, give your head a shake, it's not gonna happen. I agree 100% that when things are new and full MSRP, deal away, but remember as the retail price drops it drops at an alarming rate by comparison to the cost. At the end of the day, most stores want your business but they won't give it away. I have people expect that of me every day and it's not gonna happen. ALso, as a tip. Do yourselves a favour. Don't lie. We almost always know and you will get nothing. We all know once you lie to us and you "walk" hoping we'll chase you, all you're gonna do is go to another one of our stores and buy it there and save the embarrassment of being caught in a lie. I'm not saying this to be rude. Really just treat your salesperson like you'd expect to be treated. Primarily with some respect.

I don' think this is a warm deal at all. Visions (GVR) had the same tv last week for $2,499 with an upconverting DVD player. A friend also bought the TV a couple weeks before at the Sony Store for $2,650. He later got price adjusted at the Sony store for the $2,499 price. If you walk into some of the mom n pop tv stores (in GVR) you should easily get $2,650 or less.

Did I ever say "lie" to the sales person ever in my post? Please read it carefully once again and you would find I did not. The only thing I wanted to bring out is negotiate and re-negotiate. Is it a sin to negotiate and then re-negotiate with another store? You might feel it because you are in the shoes of a retailer (or sales person). Step into the shoes of a customer. Now, ask yourself if you would like to save some money today?? Moreover, I don't know which sales person would get exploited and sell at cost or below!?! Everyone knows their limits.

It is not a hot deal for a SONY KDL40V2500, some store (in Vancouver) sell this model under 2500.

Samsung 4095 1080p in BestBuy, sell 2499 2 week ago (now return to MSRP 2999), if you applied 50 online coupon and 100 1080p PS3 coupon, price will drop 2349, (Maybe 30 off when you use AE credit card)

SONY and Samsung, normally they use same LCD panel , which made in their joint venture LCD factory

You posted the same thing in the SHARP thread. You never responded to this post though:

If the viewing angle is the same as above then it's not too bad.

You can do better. Friends and Family night the 40v2500 was going for $2699 and that included the lower end 5.1 wireless Sony home theatre system.

I'm still kicking myself over not jumping on that deal. :( At this time of the year, may as well wait for Boxing Day, especially since the sale goes until Dec 31.
