Hello Kind Folks,
First post here. I'm really looking at the Nissal Altima 2007 2.5 SL. I went to 2 dealers and got a similar starting price. I'm planning on visiting them tomorrow to get down to serious negotiation :-) What's a good price to pay for this? As this is the first new car I'm purchasing, I'd like to have a nice experience.
I've pretty much decided on leasing. These are the deals I have:
Base price: 30,798.00
Both dealers have offered: 30,298.00
With $5400.00 down, the 48 month lease comes to $425.00 / month (tax inclusive) with a buy back rate of 14400.
Another said $400 / month (tax inclusive) with similar down, but this was over the phone.
What they've quoted doesn't sound like any fantastic deal. I'll use APA or CarCostCanada to find the true cost, and use that as a jumping board. What do you all think? I'm sure your experience, thoughts, all will help a lot.
Much appreciated!
Anvah.

Have you tried any other cars?
To be frank, the Altima is a horrible car, along with most Nissans.

quoted for a blatant lie - nissans are great cars, especially latley. Awards, testimonials, buyer satisfaction and sales numbers are all positive.
And how do I know? I own a 2005 Altima SE

yeah, Nissan is not bad. I drove a QX-4 for more than 8 years until it got stolen recently. And there have been no major problem throughout the 200k I put on it.
Good luck on negotiating and enjoy your new altima!!..:D

2006 Altima was a big disaster for Nissan, specially the 2.5L. When I was working at Enterprise, Nissan had stopped selling the 2.5s because Engine was big failure. My fleet had 4 brand new nissans with blown motors with less than 6K on em!
Just search on the board, I had posted few threads.
Thats why the depreciation is so high on the Altimas. My buddy picked up a 2004 Last year for $13,500 off a dealer.

Is the 2.5 engine all new? I'm assuming it is and Nissan has fixed the problem? Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Altima is an awesome car. Have had 2002 Maxima, 2004 Altima and 2004 Pathfinder.

Yep. Brand new engine. The 2007 is a re-design - the engine, exterior, + interior.

I'm in a similar situation right now. My 2003 3.5SE Altima is due back in March so I decided to pop into my local Nissan dealer to find out what I could get. Was offered the 2007 Altima 2.5S with the convenience package and CVT engine for $415/month for 60 months based on $2000 down. I told him that I wouldn't be able to make a decision right there and then but that I thought it was a little too much considering that I could just go and take over some guy's lease on leasebusters without putting down any of my own money. I'm going back next Saturday to see if he has to say but this is what he has to work with:
I want zero down
Nissan to take care of the last 3 payments I have
Monthly lease rate is less than $400/month
Think they'll come back with anything good.
