Nice find! No minimum specified :cheesygri I wonder how tough it will be to get this coupon used, it is after all a printed coupon.

Three days to pickup small items (I'm assuming from the homeoutfitter dept)

Maybe some towels, or replacement cutlery.

I tried to use this yesterday evening at the Eglinton Town Centre location in Scarborough. Picked up a $4.99 item but they wouldn't allow it. Cashier's didn't know what to do and called the manager who stated that the item must be $10 or more. I told them there was no mention of this anywhere on the coupon but they said thats how it is. Take it or leave it.
I left it.

That's Bull Crap... Maybe you should have insisted to call head office or soemthing. If their staff doesn't know it, chances are the manager doesn't know it neither.

And if the manager knows it and not the staff, that means they have communication problem, IE manager not giving proper training to staff!!

I certainly appreciate OP for sharing deals with everyone.

hm... nowhere on that coupon does it say min. purchase req'd....

i'd at least point out to them the exact URL where you got the coupon f/, which proves no min. purchase is necessary....

Good luck with that. I've been trying to get upper level management for the last 3 days with no luck. The Home Outfitters line is like a rogue agency within the HBC umbrella. The HBC CS reps have no idea how to get a live rep to deal with HO customer complaints.

hehe.. i've been trying to get a hold of their management too.. you know the 20$ off 50$ promo.. the store is trying to screw us.. bought something for 449$ (before tax) and she's like u can use 8 cards.. so i told her the total is 512$ after tax, i should be able to use 10.. she's like no, spending is always before tax and i pointed out that it doesnt say that on the card.. so I talked to a manager at the store.. and he's like good point.. upper management told me to do it like this, so i gotta stick to it... tried contacting "upper" management and nothing...

I just came back.

Originally I picked 2 x $2.99 item and the girl said it will only apply to 1 item. Then manager came over and said: that particular item has to be larger than $5 in value and even $4.99 will not work.

So I spend another 10 mins browsing the store and found a $5.99 kitchen scissors and bought it. $5.99-$5 + tax = $1.13.

THANX.

Here's the phone # for industry canada: Competition Bureau: 1-800-348-5358
I called the bbb in my area and they said it's misrepresentation and gave me this number. I haven't been to the store yet so I won't call until it happens to me, but people who are getting the $10 story should definately call and maybe they can do something.

i'll try it tomorrow after SDM 20x special.

you have to admit, trying to get something less than $5 isn't something they are used to and certainly not what it was intended for.

$5.99 or anything up to $10 is a great deal imo

Came back from Home Outfitters, this is how it works:

1. Any Item, but it has to be over $5. The $4.99 items did not count :(
(A pity, cause I really wanted a Pyrex 10" pie plate... for $4.99)

2. Has to be a single item, combo items the total over $5 unfortunately does not count either. :(

3. However, print as many coupons as you want and go in and out as many times as you want:
So I went around the store looking for things that I want... I got a silicon spatula for 99 cents instead of 5.99 :)

And I got a set of Pyrex small bowls for butter sauce (when eating lobster) for like 35 cents after the coupon of course! I use them to mix garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinigar for my salads. :)

I didn't really want any large items from the store. I also noticed that most of the products at Home Outfitters are very EXPENSIVE. In general, I am not talking about any specific deals. I did want to get some Kitchenaid soup spoons. However even with the 5 dollar discount coupon, they are still more expensive then going to Zellers or Winners.

But regardless... I am still very happy with the items I got. OP, I thank you again big time for telling us. You rock! Have a great New Years :)

I printed 5 coupons off, I ended up giving a three away to shoppers who were also super delighted.

AGREED, twice.
1)I appreciate OP for sharing this deal with everyone
2) 5 dollars can be a big deal, this is a forum on redflag deals. I think some people forget that.

I visited Home Outfitters today to buy some coffee's for my new Tassimo, they were all 4.99, the cashier was familiar with the coupon and even though they couldnt give $5 off a 4.99 item they just gave me 4.99 off a 4.99 item.

Good find, it was too quiet in the store for me to try using it several times.

I went to Home Outfitters this evening. Spent an hour and a half looking for something to buy (things really are overpriced there), eventually found a candy dish for $7.99. Took it to the cash. The cashier had a print out of instructions on how to process the coupon. So they are aware of it. But when she scanned the coupon it came in at 20% off. She then entered it off the instruction sheet and still 20% off. The other cashier told her to scan the sample coupon they had and it still came up as 20% off. She eventually got it to accept the $5 off but then told me I had to pay by HBC card. The total was $4.11 (tax on price before coupon). I never use my HBC card and didn't want to put such a small amount on it. She said the register would not accept cash when she keyed it in and insisted that I use my HBC card. I refused noting that the coupon did not state that you had to use an HBC card. So she called another coworker over who just told her to take $5 off, even though that was not the correct way to do it. So this way I paid $3.41 (tax on the after coupon price). Interesting how we have all had different experiences with this coupon.

Seemed to work ok for me - my item was over $5. The cashier said the coupons weren't working, but they had given them a printout to scan that worked. Because it's a coupon the $5 should come off before taxes. I had a hand towel for $6.96-$5=$1.96+tax.I asked if there was a minimum purchase and she said it didn't look like there was. I got called in to work so I didn't get to try anything else cheaper, but I'm going back tommorrow to see what I can find. I probably won't bother to argue ir, but technically you shouldn't even have to keep going throught the till. The coupon says off any one item - which should mean 5 coupons 5 items. Nowhere does it say one per customer or per transaction.

Went today...cashier was very good and gave me no trouble. Bought 2 bundles of 10 tea towels on sale BOGO 50% off, so got 20 tea towels for $11.38. Then put a $6.99 glass cleaning e-cloth (supposedly works just with water) thru in a separate transaction that cost $2.27 with tax. I gave the 3rd coupon on me to the woman in line behind me but will print more and return. My bathroom towels are looking ratty and they have tons for sale from $8-10, which, minus $5 is a good deal per towel.

After reading your post, I too picked up a pair of kitchen scissors as well. Can't be beaten for $0.99+tx.

I took a 2nd trip to another cashier (this time for a keychain flashlight at $5) and this time the $5 was taken off AFTER tx. I should have got it for free, but I ain't going to make a scene for a mere $0.70.

Talking about inconsistencies, even within the same store...

Yeah, many items are expensive at HO. I am surprised to see the number of people shopping there. The only items that may be of interest to me are the Roomba & Scooba.

I went to Eglinton Town Centre location this morning as well, i got an item which is more than $5, the coupon only gave me 20% off. another guy came over said it's suppose to work for item more than $10. I argued that it doesn't mention anywhere on the coupon, and I also pretend that I already confirmed with head office and all that. they called the manager, and eventually they took out a instruction sheet with another coupon code. so they know what to do, but they didn't want to give out the free $5 to me.

heh, checkout their sale prices on wkly flyers - even those prices seem kinda $$$ IMO.

sometimes their "20% off any item" coupon makes it a bit better tho....

I used this coupon 7 times, combined with their BOGO 50% off sale...got 4 towels (8.99 ea = 35.96), 2 10 packs of tea towels ($9.99 ea x 2 = 19.98), 2 boxes of fridge magnets ($5 clearance x 2 = 10), a glass cleaning e-cloth (6.99) and an OxyClean starter kit ($9.99) for $33.92 before taxes ($82.92 reg price value).

It scanned in at 20% off but the staff knew to enter it as a $5 off vendor coupon.

Too bad they aren't open today. I have been meaning to get a garlic press but don't think it's worth the 6-8$ it costs at most stores (bought one from the dollar store one but it sucks). I could have bought so many things with this coupon!
