Hello all,

I am looking at how to add a aux. input to a 2004 altima with bose radio (upgraded stereo). I have read about using the "cd" connection for the CD changer and converting it to an aux-in. However, I want to still be able to keep my cd-changer and use it (in-dash cd changer). This radio doesn't have an "aux" or "satellite" input. Is there a way I can add a little switch so I can chose between CD and Aux in? Ultimately I would like something where I can use my steering wheel controls to control an ipod or other large mp3 player (I would buy one if I got this hooked up in my car correctly). However, even if I could just get a decent aux in I would be happy... (I am not impressed by the quality of the FM transmitters)....

Any suggestions? I would like to do this myself and I have tried google, etc but after all the reading I am still confused. I see different "kits" but they don't exactly do what I want with this car. Maybe I am missing something??

You could install something like this: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=610 (I don't think this particular adapter is compatible with your Altima, though, only '98-'01 are mentioned)

This adapter will disable external CD changers. I'm not aware of any switches between CD changer and this adapter, so you'd have to design and make your own.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, that is what I came across (stuff similar to that). Anyway, I want ot keep access to my CD player. Has anyone come across anything with some kind of switch or anything?

Will something like this work for you?..:)

It allows you to switch between AUX and FM inputs

I heard the quality isn't as good as it could be even if you hook up directly to the antennae (when reading another review of a similar type of product)... Anyone have experience with this method?
